Advanced Member Taurus Posted August 15, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2010 You can subdivide msh now but it subdivides without smoothing, multi subdivision preview is needed to see how mesh will look if subdivided with CatmullClark

philnolan3d
I believe the subdivide button does use Catmull-Clarke. just click the button a few times to check it out, then when finished hit undo the same number of times.

Its flat shaded. Which is useless for quickly previewing a sub d mesh.
philnolan3d
Sorry I missed the part about smoothing too some how. It's not perfect but you could use the brush tool with Shift, which smooths out the mesh.

I usually have to export to silo or max just so i can see the model Goraud shaded with a low gloss material (great for showing smoothing errors.) Member mash Posted August 16, 2010 Member Report Share Posted August 16, 2010 What he means is he wants to be able to hit the "tab" key and get the same results he would get in Modo, Lightwave, Maya Etc. Also it would be nice to be able to set the subdivison surface level and turn on or off the Subdivision cage. http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=UYzyTT6eP0U&feature=related
Advanced Member Taurus Posted August 16, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 16, 2010 Exactly mash,Topogun has it feature and it's really really useful What is now in 3DC is faceted sub, and smoothing with brush is not a solution because CC is needed for quick preview.
