  1. 3DC can handle that amount of polygons smoothly.

It is difficult to give an opinion without seeing the model, but can you split in MUDBOX the model into parts ?
It's the only thing I can think of, splt the model, perform retopology and import all the resulting objects in your 3d program to clear and unite the needed

  3. Brief Considerations About Materials

For the purpose of our needs, we may reduce the materials to two basic different types:

    Dielectrics and Conductors.

Dielectrics materials do not conduct electricity. Conductors do.

So, in a very non-scientific way that should only be used by artists and not someone writing a science paper, we could say that Conductors are all the metals or metallic looking surfaces, and Dielectrics are all the non-metallic surfaces, such as wood, plastic, rubber, clay, fabrics, etc.

And what is interesting for us to know is that Conductors alter the color of the specular reflection, tinting them. While the Dielectrics materials will be neutral to the light and not affect the color of the specular reflection.

  4. Hi

Voxel is Dynamesh equivalent, good for organic shapes but hard surface. You need a very high density layer and a powerful machine to get crispy edges at Voxel mode (i7 or Xeon with 32GB at last).

Which model type do you need to replicate ? any pic could help to understand your possible workflow.

I suggest to work voxel mode to kitbashing or rough sketch, surface mode for base details and LiveClay to add fine details.

  5. Import Tiles as UVset = ON could helps ?

The UVshet have tiles that goes outside of the 0-1 space, but 3DC use auto tiling to keep it in one UVspace

    I was reading this...

Creating and Publishing a Weapon Finish

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pilgway has recently added a couple of videos to their Youtube Channel, showing the use of the UV Tile Support features in 3D Coat as well as 3D Coat’s ability to see and use multiple UV Sets.

The workflow for Multiple UV sets in 3dCoat is a little different than what you may be used to in other applications with 3DCoat using the ideology of a singular texture space in the UV Room.
