Hi
I need to work over a polypainted model from ZB
Everything is ok with the import... but the polypainted data is in Layer0
i need Layer0 free, just to sculpt without paint artifacts and to add more paint detail
How can i move the vertex paint from Layer0 to another layer and let the Layer0 in default state ?
ty in advance and regards

Is like the maya equivalent ?
And why a Blender addon isnt free ?
The Contour Retopology tool is available today from the CG Cookie shop for $31.50!
Too much for a cylinder warp, i think
The implementation is amazing, but a little 3DC tweak can achieve the same.
I hope to see LIVE UPDATE in any 3DC tools soon...
to need to press apply, enter, preview...
and wait to see how the software think and implement the changes...
just to press undo and do the process again until get the right result...
is time consuming, is true.

yeah, nurbs to polygons conversion is not good
Nurbs similitude will be a Bézier surface...
and using CADs apps... the shapes are build based in booleans

Actually the devs are working the retopo room to make better autotopo and avoid spirals.
like you can see in the news
http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4372&p=97388
anyway,,, do you used guides -strikes- before apply autotopo ?

nice!
yup, rigify is a must learning help a LOT

E Panel
select Rectangle brush
use it like island selection dragging a rectangle over all the overlapped islands
when you import a model into retopo room
Retopo > import
the model is imported at the same time at paint room too

to paint materials, try to swicth off color
press RMB over the squares
Now you can see a X over the square, the color is switched off
so you can paint using the material default colors without add any extra RGB
when finish.... turn color ON pressing over the squares with the RMB again

yep, you have the option weld vertices when import a model
glad you find the solution

the best option would be to move all the toolbar and SHIFT key options to the TOOL OPTIONS PANEL

Hi
Can i use the material/mask option to overlap a reference image over a model just to paint diffuse/normal maps over it without modify the paint with the pixels in the pic ?
I have very low images to replicate making hand painting.
The references are good, but the low quality pixelated all the layer
Take more time to clean up all the jagged strokes that make a clean draw.
So the idea is to use material or mask popup like references images just to paint the model following the pictures BUT i dont need to modify my paint with the picture content pixels (i duno if im clear, sorry)
I need to paint trough the material

paint room > transform/copy tool
dont use layer0, this layer i used internally by 3DC to bake displacement maps.
like material is ok... hmmm...
please add a capture screen

Merge the obj without voxelizing
in this picture is off, turn it ON
add details using Live Clay.

Workflow suggestion:
0. Use latest beta build. You can download from this forum in the section called New Releases And Betas
1. File-->import-->Import mesh for voxelizing
2. Scale up your model to desired resolution (bigger scale = higher resolution of voxels) Click apply in Tool Options palette, or hit Enter. Your mesh will be voxelized. Also select "Yes" when asked to remember original model position.
3. Switch to a Voxel sculpting tool ("Grow" for example) in order to get out of the Merge Tool and see your model.
4. Pick a shader for your model from the Shader tool palette. I recommend PicMat_Grey_Clay because you can see the effects of your sculpting well.
5. Use voxel tools to sculpt your model (add dents to your car model)
6. When finished sculpting, change to Retopo room and choose Retopo-->Import and choose the same mesh you voxelized earlier. Select "Yes" to snap this model to your voxel mesh.
7. Create UVs (if necessary) with tools in UV section of toolbar.
8. Bake your model to the Paint Room by choosing Retopo-->Merge with NM (per-pixel) or select a different option that suits you better. If you want a displacement map, choose a "microverts" option.
9. Once your model is in the Paint Room you will have your normal map in the Layers palette. Feel free to add layers and paint your model further. You can paint normal map depth, or diffuse color, specular, glow, etc.
10. After painting is complete, choose File-->Export-->Export Model to send your improved model out of 3D-Coat.
Good Luck!
