  1. That's pretty strange. I'm running a geforce GTX 760 w/ 4GB of VRAM and 16GB of RAM, I would imagine you would be in a better situation than I am. I recently textured something with a bunch of 4K textures, and it did pretty well. It slowed down now and was slow to load the file, but once it did that, it worked alright. How large is your 3B file? Is it something you can shared, maybe I can try to load it into 3DC.

    Also, which version of 3DC are you using?

    I'm not sure cluttered is the right word. Massive comes to mind☺. I think the old hands operate with the program intuitively at this point and may be concerned about embarrassing the rest of us by dumbing down their helpful explanations. Ramping up newbie productivity quickly would be good for the success of the product, I'd imagine. It may be up to us newer users to add to the wiki etc because the older hands just don't appreciate how little some of know about the several different areas of program.

    If you feel you want to add something, I would be happy to copyedit/post to the manual. :) Email me at 3dcoat AT javisjones DOT com.

  3. It depends on what you're referring to. In the manual and in the interface (as much as possible), I've tried to not use the word layer or group too much for various and different things.

    In the manual and most of the UI, a Layer refers only to the layers in the Paint Layers panel (ala PS). Otherwise in the VoxTree, that is known as a Sculpt Object. So for the two more important aspects of the program, it is "nailed" down, so to speak. For tutorials that I don't mind, I cannot control that aspect. :)

    This thread would typically go in the paint mode bugs forum, but that has not been updated for 2 years so... I also made a thread in 'features' forum which I intended to keep udpate but I am unable to reply to my own thread, I guess it was locked? if a mod can chip in here it would be nice

    Hey there. Sorry about any confusion. We recently did a forum update and that changed some of the functionality of the forum software. That said, I have elevated your status to "Member" from "New Member", you should now be able to edit your posts and the like as you need.

    Thanks Javis! I've checked Marmoset Toolbag web page. It seems that they're gonna release 3.0 soon.
    I've been very lazy for a while, unable to find the motivation after work (and a bit too much involved in rugby games);
    but I'll try to do something with 3dCoat a little more.
    By the way, is your new avatar done with Hexels2? I found it cool too!

    Hey! No problem. :) Looks like 3.0 is out now, at a good price too.

    The new avatar is just something I found online, it's from Zelda: A Link to the Past, sort of. It's a mash up of Zelda and Portal. I don't remember who made it at the moment though. I thought it was pretty funny, and got tired of using pictures of myself. :p

    As for Hexels, it's pretty neat looking. I haven't used it personally, yet. But I aim to at some point.

  7. It looks like the smart material is overriding the fill with freeze function. That seems to be a bug. That said, I'm using a newer version than what you are and am not experiencing that. Try downloading the latest version (4.7.16 for Windoze, 4.7.13 for Mac, as of this writing) and try again, hopefully the latest for MacOS will not have that bug.
