  1. I dreamt last night that 3D-Coat started rendering just fine on my computer... but it was just a dream. It still doesn't work Opened 3D-Coat, selected small voxel sphere, went to render tab, clicked render. Rays reached 320 and then stopped. Nothing seemed to be happening after waiting a few minutes (though 3D-Coat was still using ~96% of my CPU) so I pressed "ESC" and then quit 3D-Coat without saving changes to scene. "log.txt" file emailed to you. EDIT: Oh, and I used V3-00-02.
  2. I just thought I'd bump this since I still have the same problem with V3.00.02 on Mac OS X except now "Rays" count up to about 350 and then stop. I can hit "Esc" to return to voxel sculpting now as well, so I don't have to force-quit 3D-Coat anymore. But I still can't render anything.
  3. Regarding the submitting of bugs: it might be good to have four(?) different threads for bug submitting; one for each section of 3D-Coat rather than one huge one. It'd be a bit more orderly that way.
  4. Ah, I'm not the only one with rendering woes. Not only do I only get a black file from a render, the render also crashes 3D-Coat, though with the latest builds it doesn't crash until it casts around 350 rays. Then nothing and I must force quit it.
  5. Yeah, I don't think it's a necessary feature, but I thought it'd be cool and useful and I thought I'd ask. I think I saw something similar in a ZBrush tutorial. Some one placed a horn on a head and even though they were separate objects the program smoothed between them as if they weren't.
  6. Is it possible to blend between layers in the voxel tree? By blending I mean that the sculpting tool would treat the separate layers as if they were the same layer and affect both. For instance if for some reason I wanted to put ears and head on separate layers then if I could turn on blending between voxel tree layers it'd allow me to attach the ear to the head seamlessly. I hope that makes sense.
  7. Thank you. My sculpts thus far have turned out as strange blobs until last night and this guy showed up. Yeah, he's some sort of inventor I think, so he's a mix of crazy doctor and crazy vehicle driver.
  8. Well, I bought 3D-Coat v2 last month and haven't used it even once Here's my first digital sculpt. I've messed about with the sculpting in the 3D-Coat alpha but mostly just ended up with blobs and weird abstract shapes - curves are so mesmerizing :P I think this guy turned out pretty well Done in Alpha v86rc. Screenshot because the renderer just crashes 3D-Coat. Goggled Guy
  9. I'm on Mac so maybe this is already in v87 but it'd be nice for there to be some sort of indication as to which direction the camera is looking when using hot keys to align it: front, back, left, right, top, bottom.
  10. Whoo! Release is imminent! I bought v2.0 as a sort of pre-order (in my mind) of v3.0
  11. This is great! I've been planning on using 3D-Coat in my illustrating (as soon as I've learned it well enough) and hope to get into full-time illustration soon. I'll definitely be getting your book
  12. <Thread added to "Links I visit every morning to inspire me and make me happy">
  13. Wow! Any chance you might document your sculpting process for those of us learning 3D-Coat?
  14. I'm on a MacBook Pro, 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1600 256 MB. For me rendering gets stuck at 2% and never finishes no matter what the voxel model is (even the initial sphere). 3D-Coat just locks up and I'm forced to force-quit the program.
  15. In regard to pointers; is it a bad thing if the pointers are constantly counting down while I'm in Voxel Sculpt mode? In my latest sculpting session (my first real attempt with 3D-Coat) the pointers reached I'm on a 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo Macbook Pro, 2 GB RAM, 256 MB ATI Radeon X1600 and I've been using the latest alpha (75) of 3D-Coat. Nothing seems to be affected by the pointer behavior, though many of the shaders bring my machine down to < 1 fps
  16. I'm new here and plan on buying 3D-Coat tomorrow (I really want v3). One thing that bothers me in trying the demo is that I can't redefine the hotkeys to the point that I can sculpt and navigate without leaving my graphics tablet (Intuos 3, 6x8, 8 btns, 2 touch strips). I think this is necessary and so I add my voice to those here that have already said the same thing. Edit: Nevermind. It's possible, though I'd still like to be able to assign "increase/decrease brush size" to my touch strips. Edit II: In 3D-Coat v3 alpha I see that you can increase/decrease brush size using "[" and "]" keys but I have those assigned to my tablet's touch strip and am still unable to effect brush size. I'm using OS X on a MacBook Pro.
