  1. Way to go Andrew. Looking forward to try it on in 3dc.
  2. I'll try to see what I can do if time allows. I don't promise though as I'm really tight in time.
  3. @AbnRanger, I hope I haven't offended you or anyone here. When I QFTA, I was agreeing with the fact that it reads 3DOC, but that's all. So, back again to the topic, I think that you could play with the letter C, like the Lightwave logo. No, I'm not saying to do exactly the same or even close to LW logo, but it's a starting point as reference of what one letter can turn out to be. Hope that helps. Cheers.
  4. QFTA. (Quoted For Total Agreement) That's what I thought right after the first one. 3DOC. Not that the design is bad, I would say that is very attractive and impressive, but still I wouldn't go with this one. I have mentioned to take the 3D word out, as 3D is obvious. You (or anyone else) shouldn't be selling the word 3D, but instead the COAT word. As I previously mentioned in the interface topic channel, LW, Maya, Max, modo, silo .. etc.. you name it, they all have their own "Masquote" without using the app words. Play with the letter "C". I recommend playing with the letter C and the "melting" sphere, combining them together. Sorry I have no time besides giving you my prof. opinion.
  5. It's looking real good, so do we have a winner already? I like the latest version, more precise and professional. The latest from Taros (previous page, at the bottom) looks really good. Love the tabs and looks really professional. So, Which final mokup that Andrew chose?
  6. No point to discuss it if Andrew is not interested to have a new logo and spend any effort on it. If he's interested, I'm sure will be very interested to come up with few.
  7. If I have the time, I promise I will. But time indeed is very limited and I'm in the office now... only at night.
  8. Yes, I agree with you. Since he is the person to have the last word on everything related to 3DC. Logo / UI changes...... However, never the less, I think that if Andrew does want a new logo, then it should be launched with V.3 as a overall revamp system and compete seriously in the market. The reason I insist so much in changing the logo, despite the reasons I have already mentioned previously, once 3DC v.3 is launched, it will never look back again and it would be a smart idea to start market its logo as well. (that if Andrew wants a new one). There are plenty of people here willing to do it and best of all, for free, such as with the UI. Last but not least....... people........... DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A LOGO !!! You don't need a phd to come to this conclusion. The sooner the better, trust me in this.
  9. LOL Sonk, you funny sometimes. and again...every 3D app has something like this.... and again every 3D app has something like that... and again... every 3D............ hehehe Well of course you don't want to spread every function into an individual tab, otherwise you will end up having tabs everywhere, not ideal of course. I still honestly insist on adding a color OR at least darken the drager slider. The difference between Mudbox and 3DC is that in Mud your interface is bright color and the words are all black. HOWEVER, in 3DC your background is gray dark and the words are gray and other items. That makes the selection harder and one of the major complaints of MAX 2010 new UI. Now forget the graphite ribbon, but look at the Max interface, and where it fails: http://blog.duber.cz/wp-content/uploads/max2010_ui.png Also, notice the slider color, it's not striking, but enough to stand out from the background. you know what I mean? Trust me in this. http://www.web3dnews.org/reviews/zbrush1/img3/zbrush-UI.jpg
  10. I'm going to make them ORANGE ! :P Naahh, I really wish I had the time, but I need to set my priorities first. STILL have a pile of paper work to do... you know. 2 more months and I'm DONE !!!!!!!!! hehe Besides the sliders dragging button need some color or at least a darker color comparing with the background. Now is melted with the background color and is not friendly at all. Make it darker fella.
  11. Something like this: http://www.pixolator.com/zbc/attachment.ph...achmentid=71900
  12. To be creative as you say in your signature. Besides, it looks good but it's about time for a real professional logo look. 3dc with the ball melting or a coat on top looks nice when it first came out and I believe it was done without much of a thinking. (No Offense) New age, new interface, you and everybody needs to understand that 3DC is already competing with the big toys and I truly believe that 3DC needs to revamp its logo to a professional one. It looks amateur at the moment and it doesn't suit its market image. It's too long and it needs improvement or at least shorten by 1/3 of its current size as the one shown above. Also, if you do a basic research, you will notice that Max / Maya / XSI / Modo / Silo / Mudbox / Zbrush.....you name it...... all their logos share the same point, they are short , square style. Yes, we should be creative, but why not embrace a principal that was proven it works. Honestly I would change the whole logo and its color entirely. I also think that the word "3D" can be totally omitted. If I have some time, I'll make some logos. Just not sure if Andrew is interest to have a new logo or not.

Okay mate, well, I'm going to keep commenting on the english post then. See you there
  14. I think that is about time for Andrew to decide which one to go and from the chosen one, continue to make small improvements and start with the implementation. I hope that Andrew is reading this post. Both Sonk and Shadow should be credited big time for this awesome work as both have contributed greatly on the UI development. Hopefully I haven't forgotten anyone else. And what about the rest of us??? Give us a discount and I will call that even! However, there are some changes that still needs work, and those are always those small details. Well I was born to look at those little details and I'm a perfectionist. YOU GUYS FORGET THAT LITTLE DETAILS COUNT THE MOST AND CAN HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT TO THE USER !!! :P Be Right Back with a screen shot. Okay, back... Don't ask what program I used to create the arrows, cause it's very embarrassing LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! Anyway... The arrows are pointing to the icons. They need to be sharpen or adjusted with Contrast / brightness in Photoshop to make them more alive. It's too "dead" the green The Tab COLOR needs to be darken a bit more. So imagine that you have another TAB besides Color, then the chosen TAB needs to be easily identified by having a different or darker background color ON the tab only. Notice the slider bar, I added a color square to easily spot where's the dragger square, those small little things but that makes a huge difference. Sonk, Shadow's pie is awesome hehe I personally like it very much and it really helps with the accessibility. It's like working in Zbrush and i4 tablet. Of course the look and feel can be improved no doubt. And honestely I like the navigation CUBE that was in the corner from Shadow's interface. Never the less, Andrew can think of a setting that allow users to turn it off if anyone doesn't want to see the navigation cube, but make sure to give this option at least. On / Off http://funkyimg.com/viewer.php?img=/2/784/...face_Diz_04.jpg Another point, don't forget to make the FONT SIZE consistent towards the entire app ! That is really important!!! Conclusion: 1. Tabs colors need to be recognizable so user knows in which TAB he/she is on. 2. Consistency towards the whole app with the type face and font. 3. Icons needs to be sharpen, more contrast. 4. Shadow's pie needs a bit of work. The color picker at the center can be a whole range of RGB color picker, once clicked on it, the small popup color picker shows up, something like that. 5. Navigation Cube with on / off button in the configuration or preferences window. So far that's it. Keep the good work guys.

Thank you geothefaust. Okay, erasing all the images from my mind and start from Shadow then Sonk Here's what I think after viewing all Shadows and Sonk mokups. Both are good however Shadow's feel is going towards Max 2010. The icons need color to be identified easily. The TABS need more spacing. Don't squeeze the tabs, there's plenty of space to spread out Shadow. http://funkyimg.com/u2/784/743/Interface_Diz_04.jpg The sliders can be added under each function list shown on the right. Soft Stroke Falloff Smoothing... .... http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/090301/ixJr298nY5.jpg Andrew Don't you even dare to think in going like Lightwave look style please. Erase that from your mind. http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?act...ost&id=3019 Sonk Yours the best so far as includes everything I mentioned above, except for the TABs. They need to be bigger and more obvious and space out. http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?act...ost&id=3012 Guys, keep the good work. I wish I had the time to create mok ups too. Ohh I love that Pie of Shadows. Sweet.

  18. Sonk, sorry can you tell me/ give me the link, of which one is the shadows and which one is your updated version?
  19. Don't get me wrong, but are you trying to achieve lightwave feel with that pile of words on the left? I don't like any of the logos you did, but only one, the 3DC logo, just with three characters. But still, is missing something. However, I'm still not quite sure about the Lime green on the logo. I would go with an Orange color. Let me see if I can find some time and do 1 or 2 logos for 3dc.
  20. hmmm...... Zbrush 4 has been announced... Release in August 2009, but as Pix never delivers on time, I'm sure 3DC still have time to get more customers. Be fast guys with the new UI and the 3DC v.3 release. Competition is getting tighter, which is a good sign in a way
  21. Can we also change the name of 3D Coat to something else ? Also the green to a bright Orange? A new logo ? ..... run run run before someone ...
  22. Hehe Sonk, sorry man, didn't mean to call you or anyone brainless honest word. Maybe I haven't explained well with my Zbrush concept approach. What I was trying to say, there are features that Zbrush does it very well and we could use those concepts and apply it in 3DC. Not to be afraid to copy or the need to re-invent the wheel again. If a particular function / UI part/section worked with Zbrush (or any other app), then why not apply it in 3DC. By no means, I was trying to say to copy the whole Zbrush UI , of course not. Sonk, you UI is like modo UI and that is a brilliant idea. That's one of the reasons why modo has a great success due to its easy access UI and organization. Keep the good work guys. Again, we could have a pretty simple function, like in Zbrush (yes again), that when you rollover an option/function and press CTRL key, it pops a semi-transparent rectangular with a simple / short explanation of that tool and its functionality. That can improve usability and for the user to easily learn the app as well.
  23. Does anyone here use Zbrush? Why don't you look at the http://www.web3dnews.org/reviews/zbrush1/img3/zbrush-UI.jpg The top sliders can't be grouped together. Or simply put two or three on top aligned, then next column with two or three sliders aligned. Make use of TABS, it allows a straight forward navigation. If I just want to focus on UV tab, I press UV Tab and on the right all the UV functions pops up on the right OR left. The stacks are movable / customizable. Be it able to CREATE MY OWN STACK with functions that I use most. For example, I have an empty stack in Zbrush, all I need to do is simply drag the brushes or any other tools that I use most in my daily job and have my own Stack with my favorite tool set. That is powerful and allows speed workflow. Just look at the Zbrush interface. People claim that Zbrush is hard to learn because of its UI. I call these people brainless. Zbrush is not hard to learn and is really very flexible in millions of ways. Now, I am no fan of Zbrush or any other tool in the market. I don't either love it or hate it. However, Zbrush allows me to be productive in short time due to the UI customization a la CGicore.
