I watched nearly every video from you.
in those areas so low that it's hard for any pinch tool to both pull geometry together AND push it back out perfectly as well
This is exactly what i mean.
I have to use different ways like cutoff, pose tool and stuff like that.

Ok, after several test.
In and Outer depth = 10 -> same result
In and Outer depth = 1 -> same result
Inner Depth = 1 Outer Depth = 10 -> same Result
Inner Depth = 10 Outer Depth = 1 -> same Result
Same again with that sphere -> same resut
Only the change of "Snap to outer face" solved that problem.

Yes, thats the way i create it.
Starting with a primitve and cut off every thing with the different strokes.
And it seem that is the easiest way to create clean and sharp edges.

Sorry, no way.
This is my result
Sure i get some sharp edges with pinch and the spline stroke, but i always get some ugly disortations on the corners, too.
Not sure what i did wrong.
I have testet it on the basic cube with 2 Mill polys in Voxel and Surface Mode, always the same.

This has nothing to do with bashing an app.
OK, to be a little bit more specified.
I want to create a iceaxe (dont know the english name) for my adventurer.
I was not able to create sharp and clean edges with the pinch tool or any other common brush, so i started this threat.
This one is created now with the Cutoff tool.
To keep the question alive.
This is a cube with 4 corners and i want the edges as sharp as possible. I know now with much resolution and the pose tool i could creat it or i could use Cutoff for this job, too
But still no way with pinch and the other common brushed. Or did you see that different?
The handle of the axe.
How could i get this area sharp and clean? Same as above, but not with pinch or any other sculpting brush.
For hard surface modelling on armors on that you dont need realy sharp edges, then the pinch, chissel or flatten did a greate job.
So please tell me how should i do to create a axe blade like mine with pinch tool.

Hi, i put my problem in this threat if it is OK.
I got a liitle problem with the baking, too.
I have sculpted and retopod my modell but after merging it into the paint room, some details are lost.
In the picture i have a zip with the holder, on the left side it get baked, but on the right not.
Any ideas whats going wrong here?

As far as i see, it is impossible to create a sharp edge with the common sculpting tools.
Only Cutoff, a base besh from an other app or only modify the shape with the pose tool, could create/keep sharp edges with 90 degrees.
Chissel, flatten and other tools are not recommned.
Good to hear, so i could stop my trial and error with the pinch brush.

Yes, this works fine, but what if i cant use the cut tool?
Or if i start with a highres cube. After i use the crab tool, to create the shape that i need, like a katana blade, all sharp edges are gone or i get ugly artefacts.

Hi at all
As the topic says, i have problems to sculp sharp edges.
I have tested some stuff, but i cant figure it out, how that does work.
Lets take the basic cube. After some subdivision and smoothing, you get rounded edges.
But how could i sculp that edges sharp? The best way as far as i see, is the cut off, but what should i do when i wont cut the surface because i would keep it?
With the Pinch tool, i could create sharp edges, but they create some ugly artefacts near the corner, it is not a plane shape after the usage.
Any help would be nice.

I would use Curves for that.

Nice little guy.
Maybe the proportions are a little bit missmatching.
Arms and feet are a little bit to short, or the head is to big for the rest. i am not sure what.
The face is nice.
Update from me. Some more Details.
I am now on 21 Million polys and i see there is no much room for more polys on my PC.

That is strange, indeed. Try clicking the little triangle/drop list in the upper right hand of the panel and choose "save preset file." When you leave the app and come back, see if that doesn't store it permanently.
I got it,
After if rename a custom brush, i have to klick on update preset, too.
Then it would be loaded on a new startup.

right-click on the preset and choose "rename" or double-click on the current name. Same way you can change the layer name anywhere in the application
Yes, but if i close 3d coat and open it again, the custom name is gone and the preset brush use the original name again.
I use the LiveClay brush, i modify it, i save it, i rename it into Malo, everything looks OK, i close 3d coat, i open 3d coat, and i see LiveClay instead of Malo in my presets.
Something goes wrong on my side, but what?

Two questions.
Is there a way to give the preset brushes a own name?
There is a field that i could give the brush his own name, but after reopening 3d coat, i see the original name of that brush and not my custom name.
I love to save incremental, is there a way to change the SHIFT+CRTL+S to only CRTL+S and in the other way for normal saving?

Hi
A few minutes ago, i get a serious problem with the new V4.
Let me explain it a little bit more detailed.
I have played a new game, and after i played enough, i closed the game and i started 3d coat.
After the start up, i get an error message. something about a XML file i have do delete manualy, i did not realised that error comes from 3d coat, so i hit the OK button, because i was thinking, that comes from the new game.
I cant say exactly what the text means of that message. so i cant give realy more infos about that.
But after 3d coat was loaded i see there are some missmatches.
First this.
Here should be the strips but now it is empty and there is now true, what ever that means.
Then this.
This should be the pen options, where i could change the rotation, follow path, spacing, and stuff like that.
But now it is empty, and the word Pen0 is now on that place.
In the lower field, are all masks gone with the field.
All presets are gone like last work, the paths to my folders and stuff like that.
I found in the log there is the settings.xml missing. Maybe this is the reason of that error message.

Non power of twoI am sure, that i dont have deleted some files of 3d coat, nor anything else.
The only new change is the new game. But i dont think that the game would do anything on 3d coat. But i could be wrong, not sure if the DX update of the game change something.
Damn i wish i could redo all and make a screenshot about that error.
Any help would be nice, something goes wrong today. The last 3 days everything works correctly but now.
Run anybody else in a similar problem?
Please help.

Nach kurzer Überprüfung stand da 0$ (freu) und das mir eine E-Mail geschickt wurde mit dem neuen Code.
In der E-Mail stand der neue Code und ein Link zum Download von V4.
V4 Runtergeladen und derweil V3 Ordnungsgemäß abgemeldet, ob es nötig ist weiß ich nicht, werde es aber wohl demnächst komplett deinstallieren.
Nach der Installation von V4, den Code eingegeben und fertig.
Vollversion ist da.
