  1. LOL Thanks those settings can always be played with pending final render / use
  2. A new test and I must say I am really loving the 3D Painting workflow in 3D Coat, feels just right. Across seams is certainly much better than I remember. Was a little sluggish on this 4k. Painted directly onto the triangulated mesh via Per Pixel ( 3D Coat Render )
  3. I purchased DDO the other day, it still feels very foreign but I used it to modify and create a new Diffuse map...the rest is all nodal / shader work with Octane.
  4. I couldn't quite get there and I feel a new object with a fresh start keeping this all in mind will help me move in the right direction. Here are some renders and the updated diffuse map.
  5. Thank you for the great link and feedback Digman. I like the idea of that type of weathering, will see what I can do to add that to this prop.
  6. 3DC Render of some work done to updating the texture for this prop.
  7. Cool thanks. Funny you say that, I did actually start playing with that for the first time, baking onto a new layer. I ended up with an issue though, casted shadows rather than an overall AO. I got one that looked okay but really had to bring the opacity down to hide things which defeated the purpose. Took your advice last night and started adding some more detail, once done will repost the new WIP
  8. I would like to see this taken one step further and into procedural brushes. Imagine a stone crack brush that varies on every stroke or stamp.
  9. Hi Tony, Thanks heaps for the feedback and your time, understand fully, the devil is in the details. Is the texture quality ( the maps themselves ) up to a standard ( above gaming ) ? My main focus is workflow at the moment and texture maps that a great and detailed for close up shots.
  10. Hi, If anyone has some time or interest, I would really love some feedback please on the texturing quality of this object. http://laticis.deviantart.com/art/Free-3D-Model-The-Memorial-Plaque-458703899 Cheers Laticis
  11. Okay, I am satisfied now, a 4k texture is certainly sufficient if I want to go to extremes. I created a support texture with FilterForge at 4k - Cubic Paint filled the object with that map ( tiled twice approx ) - rendered in Octane via DAZ Studio
  12. I am not sure a 4k texture is going to cut it.....
  13. That's great, thought as much....thank you Aleksey
  14. Hi Been a while since I have posted here, finally getting back in touch with 3D Coat a going through a trial and error approach with baby steps to creating props for DAZ Studio Apps being used 3D Coat & Photoshop / ZBrush / DAZStudio / Octane Examples: http://laticis.deviantart.com/art/FREE-DAZ-Prop-Morphing-Fantasy-Rock-452194949 http://laticis.deviantart.com/art/FREE-Objects-DAZ-Prop-Hoard-of-Dragon-Eggs-450687263 At the moment I a struggling with textures, I really do love 3DCoats approach to 3DPainting the objects but the quality of my textures is where I fall short. So used to working at 300 DPI in Photoshop. Will 3DCoat's generated / painted texture maps be affected / improved in any way by upping the image resolution ? Will textures created at 4096 x 4096 give that minute detail ? The idea being specifically created, very detailed props designed for close up rendering in Octane. The other issue I ran into, which I feel is more DAZ related, (UV Mapped ) Painted triangulated prop, imported into DS Studio rendered fine via the Octane Plugin but the texture map renders distorted in DAZ. Attached is the Octane render, DS Render, Screenshot of Triangulated Prop and the Diffuse Texture Map Any help or thoughts would be very much appreciated Cheers Laticis
  15. Just added my support. @ PhotonVFX - actually no, I thought your lovely mock ups had been implemented...it was like giving a kid a lolly pop, allowing him to lick it and then taking it away from him. I am sure there were tears.
  16. This couldn't have come at a better time for me...thanks for the information.
  17. Hi Candy-Floss Kid, Thanks for another good idea. I can produce the results I was looking for in Hexagon but 3D Coat's retopology tools are fast an easy and i could smash the result out in half the time. A nice Flat Plane Poly Model is all I would need, the rest can be tidied up, extruded and bevelled in a modeller of choice. Thanks once again for the input and advice. Sorry for the delay response, once again didn't receive notification. Cheers Laticis
  18. Hi AbnRanger, Sorry for the late reply. Thanks heaps for the suggestions / ideas, I haven't used the Logo Tool before. Cheers Laticis
  19. Hi, I couldn't find it mentioned and it may already be possible. Is there a way to use an image plane as a reference for creating a flat plane of polys using 3DC's retopology tools? if not would be a great option to help redraw simple 2D graphic images ie Text, Logos etc. 3DC retopo tools are top notch and fast would make redrawing base meshes for text and logos excellent. If some form of guidelines could be introduced for snapping even better. Cheers Laticis
  20. Hi Andrew, thanks for the update.... Not sure if this has been mentioned but the front page of this thread is showing. Windows [3.7.04B]: C is dowloading though...thanks again.
  21. Hi Tony, Too many seams is correct, it is the same model I was working in the other workflow thread. Still trying to get my head around a correct system of UV mapping without the distorted chequers. http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8433&pid=65289&st=0entry65289 A correct workflow with results is what I am chasing so I can get on with creating and not as much learning. Cheers Laticis
  22. In relation to seams, this is the result of works completed yesterday using 3.5.23B (Win 7 64-bit DX Cuda)
  23. I wouldn't say worse, not that I have noticed with recent tests anyway. If there is a way to make painted seams invisible under close inspection, I imagine it would be another notch in 3D Coats belt, so to speak.
  24. You know, after all this time, I thought it was me doing something wrong. Thanks for the post. From a distance you couldn't tell, but zoom in and there it was. Will be happy man if this is sorted.
