  1. I suggest adding a button which is visible in all rooms which when clicked, it does what the "Toggle proxy mode" does, that is, refreshes and frees up resources, call it "Refresh". T.
  2. Then how do we know if the download link file is newer than the one we already have without downloading again? T.
  3. Just open a new scene, choose a voxel sphere, click Voxels>Toggle proxy mode The sphere will expand to 4x if the setting in the Voxels>Proxy Visualization is set to "Reduce 4x" T.
  4. AbnRanger, I have exactly the same problem as you with the scaling, I am on Linux and this has been happening for the last few releases, its not random for me, it always happens. T.
  5. I spoke about the scaling problem a few posts back (#637), did nobody read it?
  6. Hey there Andrew, I am still getting the scaling problem when toggling proxy mode, it is scaling the sculp up based on the setting under Proxy visualisation, if its set to "reduce 4X" it infact scales the sculpt up 4 times, if you set it to "Don't show Proxy", then the sculpt is not scaled up, but you cannot see it, the "Downgrade visible volumes" is also effected like the "Toggle proxy mode". I hope you can fix this soon, running 3.5.09A Linux. T.
  7. Very strange, 3dc now seems to forget the file that you are working on and when you save the file (ctrl+s) you have to specify the file and path again as if you have saved as. Also when this happens the name of the file you are working on on the title bar on the top of the application window also disappears and it just says 3DCoat. T.
  8. "Is that incredible lag, something like 1-2 seconds or more 5-10 seconds. And does that help if you just minimize 3d-coat windows and then open it again ( not closing it ) I had recently a problem that the lag happened everytime after window status was "not responding". I'm not quite sure if this is something similar." Its more like 10 seconds after each stroke and once this state has occurred there is no way to get 3DC to be fast again without either restarting 3DC or clicking the toggle proxy mode. T.
  9. "If someone who has this problem could create it and we can more fully focus on the problem." I thought it was clear, if you do some modelling or retopoing for any length of time you hit a wall, all of a sudden you get an incredible lag after every stroke, you cannot work with it so you either have to restart 3DC or do as I described above. T.
  10. Frankie I have found a work around for the sudden lag after you have been working in the retopo room for a while, this also works well with the lag you get when working in the Voxel room, go to the Voxel room and click >Voxels>Toggle proxy mode, then click the Toggle proxy mode again to get back, you will now be back to full speed, I have done this a few times in one long job without any problems to the sculpt. I hope Andrew can sort this out. T.
  11. renderdemon, have you got the Preferences>"Slightly lower shader quality, (faster render)" option checked? if you have then uncheck it, this causes the performance degradation over time you are talking about. T.
  12. There is a bug associated with an option in the preferences>"Slightly lower shader quality, (faster render)", if you enable this option then 3DC will progressively become slower, this takes a few hours to occur, but the longer 3DC is running the slower the program becomes, if you restart 3DC then all is normal again, but after a few hours it becomes slower and less responsive, even just scrolling through the menus, also while this is occurring the 3d-coat-64-CUDA process is running at around 40% even though the program is doing nothing. If you un-tick the option then this problem goes away. I have noticed this same problem with all versions 3 and over. I'm on Linux. T.
  13. Andrew have you thought about adding a dry brush to the Paint room, so that you can just paint on the surface of rough sculpted detail or by inverting the brush (Ctrl) you can paint in the crevices of the detail, this would be really great for creating dirt and scuffed up objects. T..
  14. Also, if you import a mesh, say that 2 legged monster with a trunk, in the Retopo, Paint and Sculpt rooms you will see a missing edge, or more with other imported meshes, but in the UV room the missing edge is present, maybe its really there but you just can't see it?
  15. No, not Snapping to anything, just going into the retopo room and maybe deleting an edge, creating a new edge or just moving a vertex point around, just simple things and after a few seconds my ram cooling fan cranks up to full speed and it doesn't go back down to normal speed until quite a while after I've left the retopo room or closed 3DC. There must be some serious ram activity going on, I have 16GB with a 120mm fan just above them which is governed by the ram temp setting in the BIOS. T.
  16. When I do a bit of mesh moving etc in the retopo room my ram temperature goes through the roof and the fans crank up to full speed to keep them cool, this only happens when I manipulate the mesh in the retopo room, it doesn't happen in the voxel or paint rooms. T.
  17. designamyte, I get lumps, not dents, but I see what you mean, the line doesn't respect the curve of the surface so I get the line only protruding at the beginning and ends of each line.
  18. I have now found that if I get the delay after each brush stroke, I can go to the voxel room and click the "toggle proxy mode" and then click it again, to get back to normal mode and normal brush response is restored.
  19. I also think you should rename the smooth brush to "Melt", as it acts like a blow torch on ice, meaning that if you keep painting a voxel object it will get smaller and smaller until it is completely eaten away and gone. I think a proper Smooth brush is some where between the Fill brush and the current Smooth brush.
  20. Also, if you leave 3dc for a while, like 1hr or so to have lunch and then come back to it to continue work, you will find that after every brush stroke you will get a delay for a few seconds before you can perform another brush stroke, this use to happen in the 3.2x versions, but it seemed to have been fixed, but now its back again, the only way to continue working smoothly again is to save your work and restart 3dc and open your work.
  21. There seems to be a problem with the grow and airbrush voxel brushes, it doesn't flow constantly in an even flow, it flows more randomly resulting in a blobby line instead of an even smooth line, also, sometimes these brushes deposit a blob at the beginning of the stroke no matter how lightly you start the stroke with the pen. The Surface mode Draw brush is nice and smooth, the way it should be, but it also sometimes deposits a blob at the beginning of a stroke.
