  1. note: a flood fill of the layer will fill all the gaps removing the seams. but if you start painting again the seams show up.
  2. the seams persist after sending to photoshop.. painting and then saving and letting 3dcoat update normally. i think this is confusing issue sorry . i was just randomly trying things. thanks for looking into this.ok i have uploaded a mesh to the mantis. its a part of a greater model but if you just start painting on it youll see seams start to form at the UV borders. its easier to see if you hit "2" to go to flat render mode. (tested on beta 13)
  3. lets just ignore the whole photoshop hack i was doing. its probably confusing the issue. especially when the seams appear in a clean scene when the geo is imported and you paint normally on a new layer.

  6. Still getting seams all over my models. I did some trouble shooting. its real strange in that when i broke up the model (deleted parts just so it wasn't a complete finished asset ) the seams became far less visible.   7. so having looked into this from everyone's suggestions... i already had export padding enabled ( the issue could be import padding if anything.. not export though..) mikkTspace is selected as my tangent space which is correct. Repro steps: i chose a .obj to import and paint on via the paintroom shortcut on the welcome screen. textures> import > layers color. and chose a ready made psd that had several layers in it ( AO, Cavity and normal) set the normal map layer to view as a normal map weird seams show up as seen in the first image.
  8. oh sweet! it really felt like a padding issue. I didnt realise those options had gone into the settings, ill have a play with those settings monday and report back! thanks!
  9. hey guys just updated to the 4.5 12a beta and im getting seams on my mesh in the paint room. anyone know how to fix this? all i have in this scene is a clean obj + a imported psd with normal map and ao bakes. it should be noted that this exact same file and setup resulted in no seams in 4.1

" yeh! i really hope that aside from PBR we get alot more general painting improvements and features in 3d coat. Substance painter is fast becoming a hot contender that im tempted to jump ship for, simply due to its speed of updates, dedication to its paint tools and feature set. <3 3dcoat

  13. http://3d-coat.com/mantis/view.php?id=1608 When you paint close to a symmetrical UV boarder edge with certain paint brushes you get graphical glitches cause this black square like flickering of each brush stroke. it is also embedded into the texture as color information with each stroke. ive had this issue for awhile. is it a known bug or is there a way to minimize this? it feels like it could be related to brush size? or sharp geo edges?
  14. improved painting brushes (Photoshop / procreate "feel" and behavior ) allow Photoshop adjustment layers to carry across into 3dcoat. Photoshop layer masking ability to show alpha cutouts in the painting viewport ability to show two color picking options (a reference image and the triangle picker ) less harsh blown out lighting in the paint viewport.

I was getting some crazy lag in 4.0 and 4.1 recently when i would change between tools (Within the same brush set ( i have noticed this also causes lag but that's another issue...) but yeh i would get crazy lag switching from a brush to a eyedropper etc. the only way i managed to resolve it was to rebuild the scene (re import the obj and then import in layer colors psd...) i couldnt think of what triggered the lag as it was working great all day. The only thing i can think that i did differently was at one point i did a CTRL+P and sent my file to photoshop briefly then back again. not sure if this corrupted anything in the file? No ICC profile was saved at that point .. however i was initially using a psd that had a icc profile embedded? Just thinking out aloud as to reasons for causing it........ p.s. bug: psd import still ignores a set opacity % setting in the file for layers. i.e. multiply layer @ 50% opacity will import at 100%
  16. hey so on the educational version, layer groups/folders appear to count as layers towards the maximum layer count you can have on the educational version. i can create heaps of groups but cant create any more actual layers I understand its beta so hopefully this is on the list of things to change. i.e. it doesnt count as a layer for the limit.

  19. kinda, though i hear there has been alot of requests in there already that havnt been addressed in years. What is looked at more frequently by the devs in terems of what features to add next? Mantis or the Feature Request forum.... Is there a 3d Coat roadmap?
  20. - texture editor wireframe opacity / color control -BUG wireframe toggle seems to break after awhile. clicking it has no effect. hitting reset solves this... - drag texture editor off screen or double click the orange tab to minimize/hide it. is there a quick way to go from say 3d view to texture editor? Kinda like space bar in maya to switch from focused camera to quad view then back to chosen viewport.

  22. wont let me assing modifiers like ctrl and alt + mouse click using that method.
  23. CTRL would be handy actually for maya based viewport controls. Option for other modifiers ie. ATL+mouse1 to color pick to mimic photoshop would be cool
  24. able to hotkey CTRL+mouse1 to color pick.
