Yeah, but they  just released it again as a stable. It is not even a beta any more. Im gessing they want to take part in the " Sale time people at home " influence

I can already confirm the undo issue. Also Cloth sim is having issues.

as for using older versions same here, but there are just some Programs that do it right and new tools  make workflows better. Just do not release betas. Affinity, Zbrush have done it correct until now need I name more?

If they made it a paid release they would really have to change something for me to pay for it. Like MD,SP,SD etc.. GPU is great, but only if u have a Hardware my CPU has never let me down. It is always the Software that is not optimized. Same goes for "Games" Wolcen is a nightmare with 0 Optimizations and COD is clean/smooth as butter. If you only add add add and never clean up the code it piles. I Guarantee you that 90% would want a Stable " I can handle anything then " Hey here are 10 more new tools "... and some bug fixes.. " oh wait we added 15 more bugs in the process.. Time to juggle " You get my point?

Version 7.05 still the best release.

oh yes I understand. I think I give 3DC a pass because they're a small team, and they don't charge for update. I work a lot with adobe software that have almost no new stuff, many bugs on every release and a monthly payment, or I see the 3d artists using any autodesk software too.

same for games ( damn Wolcen was rough on release, IDK how it's now. even POE league for exemple is so-so...).

but I understand the problem, especially in production. but I'm not a dev, so IDK how the problem can be solved, except maybe having a version in ''beta'' and mark it as ''stable'' like a month later, when more peoples have tested it.

So? Can I trust that this is really a stable that did not introduce more bugs? Reading the above I am already seeing that what I wrote a few weeks ago would continue. Lets hope not.

It's a beta version and we are the testers, so nobody can answer that question, only time can tell. Just assume that there's probably some bugs that are gonna be discovered in the next few days, and that fixing these bugs may introduce some new ones.

The only way to be just is to use an older version. That's why for my job I use a version of photoshop that is 2 years old, for exemple.

These are the sorts of things that I would consider huge, when using the software and its current tools feels as easy as can be, then I'm all for more features. But for now, it's not a lack of any major feature that stops me from doing my job, it's poor UI/interaction design or little bugs.

Well, at least be happy you're not a Mac user. We have no loading bar at all, so I have to guess if 3DC is working or frozen, incremental rendering is broken, CUDA acceleration is not a thing, renderman has never worked...

I dont agree about the update being shoved down our throats.. It doesnt have much of an impact security wise for regular users.. Malware has to been installed on the PC or someone have local access to it in order to exploit the flaws.. At which point they're already in your system

Really ? AFAIK, these 2 attacks can works with just a webpage, and virtual machine or other security mesures are useless. Do you have more infos on it ?

For the 30%, it was one benchmarks on one server with a security fix that slow it down. Most benchmarks for gaming software show no real slowdown. Let's hope the intel patches are good.

Because integration in Renderman, for example, leaves a LOT of limitations...such as no sequence/turntable rendering like the default 3D Coat render. No interactive mode. No shadow catching shader/material, etc.

I thought this was coming in the futur, isn't it ?

ATM I use 3Dc and Blender for look dev (so no retopo and no Uvs), it works pretty well, the only downside is that it make shading and texturing in 3DC kinda useless for me, the result is too different in blender. on the other side, I can really use renderman in 3dc either, there's no IPR and the result is too different from what I see in 3DC when I create a shader. Still, having a nice rendering engine is 3dc is pretty cool, I use it to do clay renders, while I'm sculpting. Substance does have Iray in it, so I can see the result without changing app every 2 secs (but Substance is a little different, it's a pure texturing app than could be amazing as a plug-in in others apps).

But what happened to the universal app link ? It could solve this problem.

Isn't Euclideon just basically voxel ?

Is anyone having trouble with Renderman on the Mac? I've installed latest 3DC Beta and downloaded - installed Renderman. I can open RM etc and have it working, when I switch to Renderman in the render drop down 3DC tells me its not installed. ( btw Marmoset Toolbag 3 now has python scripting - would this help in using MT3 as a App Link render? I'm not into code etc so i have no clue ) I'm a big fan of the native render engine in 3DC, but I think having options like Rendman, Keyshot, MT3 is a big plus. Renderman and Keyshot are quite expensive though for commercial versions.

AFAIK, renderman in 3DC is not working on Mac yet.

Carrots is the developer working on Render integration of Renderman, and I think one major consideration is whether the render can handle millions of polygons on Voxel/Surface mode sculpt. He looked at Cycles and said it was too sluggish with dense meshes.

I'd really like to have a post by Carrots on what is the futur of rendering in 3Dc, and what he think about the differents rendering engines.

  8. Yeh a CUDA version would be nice for macOS (I have a Nvidia card in my MacBook Pro) but I understand the argument against it. I'd prefer to see all the bugs of the Mac version solved first ( no loading bar, no incremental rendering, non-US keyboard not recognised, renderman not working...)

Back at your problem, I do not have a geometry preview went I use the sketch tool, except if I hit "enter" every time. But I don't have that weird navigation with the sketch tool. Maybe you can try to reset 3DC ?

Maybe .exe versions come with multiple launch files, but the Mac version just has one. I don't which version is under the hood.

There's is only a GL version for macOS, DX is windows only, and CUDA is not implemented in the Mac version because apple only sell AMD card ATM.

It still needs to be able to access the interactive mode of Renderman, plus add a shadow/reflection catching material. If he adds those things, and if Andrew finishes the Paint Room features + implements the GPU brush engine Carrots had worked on, those could get some momentum going back into 3D Coat's direction.

The Renderman plugin works pretty well now, but with full interactivity, and OpenVDB support, that could be huge.

Well I know what I'll ask for Christmas this year now ^_^, this would be really nice.
