  1. If this thread is a right place to submit new feature request based of 3d coat 2021 beta
    I would like to ask:

    Projector tool in the sculpt room
    It would be very helpful if we could import cameras from 3th party softwares in abc, fbx, cam, etc.. file format. and use it as a projector.
    In my workflow in VFX we very often have a plate images with specific FOV ( specyfied sensor size and focal length in mm) and we would like  to be able to model
    in a 3d coat with projection from that specific camera angle in 3d space.

    Is it possible to submit this feature request and how I would be able to know if it was approved or denied ?

    Since Vray Next for most applications like Max, Maya, Unreal, Houdini, etc. have finally fully supports PBR
    and have implementation for metalness workflow could team of 3d coat ask Vray team if it would be possible to implement
    vray engine in 3d coat rendering room like renderman ?
    Since Vray is much more used and supports almost all of 3d apps and is win, osx and linux based in my opinion is a best candidate
    to bring great raytraced CPU ,GPU, RTX lookdev renders inside of 3d coat.
    What you think about that?

    Since export constructor in 3d coat have to be disabled by tutorial recommendation to export to 3ds max applink
    how to make it possible to export 20 paint objects with different uv sets at ones?


    Would someone be so kind and explain it how to do it or maybe add feature to applink
    to be able to use constructor with multiple paint objects and based of names of paint objects and corresponding export folder for them 
    create and assign Vray 3.6 shaders in 3ds max 2018 with help of applink ?

    watched youtube tutorials for max applink 2.1 and tested it.
    The included preset in Applink 2.1 for Vray don't work in my end and I tried to create a custom one without success.
    Even if I don't use export constructor and I would like to export 20 paint object at once the applink and preset don't work how it should.
    Tutorials also don't show the case where you would like to transfer let say 20 paint object with diffuse, IOR, glossiness,  specular color, and normal map at ones in 3ds max.

    It is possible to use the export constructor with multiple changes to the settings to get all names back to how they are by default, but it's not recommended.

    PS. It is no easy to find app link v2.1 and documentation about it since https://3dcoat.com/download/applinks/ 3ds max  is pointing to version 1.8c.
    Could someone fix it ?

     

  5. Since PBR smart material store was introduced I realize there are some missing features in 3dcoat app which would help the workflow between them.

    One of them is:
    How to import multiple 3dcpacks at ones?

    File >  Import Extension - works only for one file at the time - at least for me  ( I am using v4.8.25)
    We need option to select let say 150 3dcpack and add them at ones to 3d coat - i think

  6. In terms of subscription only model in my opinion I need to agree with few other users that is not the best way to go.

    As a small studio we bought a lot of smart materials collections on gumroad in the past when we needed them.

    I suggest adding option of point packages: 5,20, 50, 100, 200,300, 500, 1000 because when I have for example a project with due in 2 weeks and I need to quickly paint let say 100 assets 
    I can't wait to next mouth when I will get new points.

    There will be some months where I weeks need 1000 credits and will be some mouths where I will need none.
    Store selling model should reflect that kind of situations also in my opinion.  

    And Paypal it is a must in my opinion from accessibility and security reasons.

  7. Hi, First of all great idea and work with store.

    I have a questions based of my current tests of The Store and 3d coat v4.8.25  workflow:

    1. [ Store related ] It would be possible to add function in store to first select few materials ( like a digital stores bucket style ) and then download all selected as a rar or zip?
    I thing that will be more convenient way of grabbing grabbing from store.
     

    2. [ Store related ] When I am trying to preview full screen the material preview using my Mozilla Quantum v 64.0 (64 bit) at my Windows 10 Pro preview is locked to bottom of page and when you browse through hundreds of materials you always need to scroll to bottom to see full screen preview. please test it an see if you are getting the same problem
    ( please have a look on  attachment no.02)

    4. [3d coat v4.8.25 related ]Since now on store we have great full size preview of material ( I am guessing 1024x1024+px) now inside of 3d coat v4.8.25 we missing the same size preview option when you previewing materials in paint room ( please have a look on  attachment no.01)

    5. [3d coat v4.8.25 related ]When our libraries of great materials from store will grow inside our 3d coat app we will need some search by name function to quickly find what we need ( for example quickly type "rust" and filter all folders and materials contain word rust) ( please have a look on  attachment no.03)

    I understand that in current stage of development of 3d coat-  UDIM support is a some walk around.
    You already answer me how to import and export UDIM using upsets.Thank you for that.

    My question is:

    Would be possible to add function to pack UV to multiple UVset automatically?

    In wideo which you shared is shown how to make this manually and I would like to have some automatic solution
    because if you need to unwrap and unpack let say  20 object with 30 uv-sets each in 1h
    that manual approach is not cost effective and tedious.

    workflow example:
    After you unwrap a model you can specify in "new too"l that you would like to pack this islands based of they size to fill for example 4 uv sets.
    Then 3d coat should calculate optimal position and rotation and scale and spread the uv island through 4 new create UVsets.
    Process should keep relationship of the scale of individual island during UV packing  at  new created uv sets ( 4 uv sets for example)
    Then I would be able to easily send model with applink to 3ds max and I should get proper multiUdim layout with
    uv tiles named "name".1001, "name".1002, "name".1003,.....etc

    Do you know what I mean?

  9. Hi , Thank you for quick answer. So according to wideo which you shared:

    Can you create a tool to automatically pack uv and create multiple uv sets in 3d coat ( to be equivalent of mutli-UDIM tools which I refereed in my examples)?

     If its possible to 'adapt 3d coat native workflow' to get workflow from another apps 

    1. Stage unwrap of a object

    2. then specify how many unique uv sets we want ( UDIMs)

    3. confirm the choice and the 3d coat will automatically create desired numbers of uv sets , rename them and automatically spread uv islands through them

    4. soo when I will load object with applink in 3ds max I will get multiudim layout

    ?

  10. Hi, I would like to propose a development idea for tool
    to automatically pack UV in multiple UDIM tiles. 
    I am working at VFX office and some of "hero assets"  need to use multiple UDIM tiles ( 10-50 x4K maps).
    We missing in 3dcoat tool which could help us with that. We have to  process models through Houdini to be able to paint multi-udim in Mari.
    I would like to ask if it would be possible to add this kind of option to 3dcoat to skip this additional step for us in houdini.
