  1. To tell you the truth, Retopo hasn't been a problem for me at all. Its actually working really nice for me. I infact did Auto Retopo quickly to test if it works, and got my organized mesh in 1min Which proves that I can sculpt something real fast without having 'base mesh' in mind and then retopo and project those details back onto organized mesh later(theoretically, as I still need to figure the Re-projecting part out yet, which I believe should be an option once you have retopo mesh right? Are there any tuts on this?) Problem for me is handling Voxels, specially when I'm going to such detail level. How does 3dc handles high detailed voxeled mesh, If I want to sculpt in highres and NOT lowres voxels. Hot to organize such immensely dense mesh? Like ZBrush does Polygroups or Masking. Thanks for your compliments on my sculpt, but I really want to see if I can use this in production. Having a cool sculpt is something, but for it to actually work in production is THE real test for both Artist and the Software Each of your comments are like gold right now, as I REALLY want to see if this software can be my one stop for my character/creature production! Thanks heaps!
  2. ok so these Voxels are giving me itch, and I couldn't help to put extra effort in the model. The idea of NOT bringing in any base mesh, and having change your mind and add more geo/concept at any point of time, is a sculptor's paradise! I'm planning to sculpt the whole body and will post the progress as I go. When I'm roughing out the form at res -8 pr -4 the mesh is fine, but the response is terrible while trying to sculpt at voxel fullres. Even menus are getting soo slow. Is there a way to get faster response at voxel highres level? What tool will work the best? What am i doing wrong? Also how an I see frame rate on-screen? Is there a way to turn it on so I can exactly know what FPR I'm getting. Also can we do area based downres or upres in one mesh? I know I'm asking too many questions, but I'm really digging this app! PS: Can moderator please move this thread to WIP. Cheers
  3. lol that's a compliment. If I'm able to achieve the hand sculpted quality to scan level, it indeed solves my purpose
  4. thanks a lot guys...really appreciate your comments! Here are two quick 'n' dirty shading tests. I know I'm getting carry away with this now...but I'm having a lot of fun and a quick skin shader test. no textures yet. I added extra skin modeling details cause I knew it would fade off with skin shader...it kinda works I guess?
  5. Here is one of very fisrt voxel sculpt. I'm loving the way 3dc handles brushes and aplhas. Very organic and freeform. Having fun with it Cheers
  6. Andrew that worked! Thanks a lot. I am getting a lot of crashes, particularly when I resample the mesh higher (20-30%) or when I smooth the mesh AND Undo. Is that known issue? Thanks.
  7. Hi Andrew when you say centrify the model, is there a tool for doing that? In voxel model the symmetry is in middle ubt as soon as i go into lowres or retopo model, the plane moves. Mesh is not in global 0 space. Tried few options it doesn't seem to be working for me I have the latest 3.5.14 build that im using. Thanks for your help.
  8. Hello. I'm new to 3dcoat and since I have been exploring it, I'm really falling in love with this app. I might be using it for my complete character creation pipeline soon. BUT first off few issues. This one with Symmetry plane and most of you probably already know this. So I sculpte a bust in 3dc from scartch using voxels. One problem is when i Res up the detail i sculpter gets smooth, is there a way to not make detals smooth but stll res up?? So to tacke that situation i exported the voxel mesh to zbrush, res up there as it retails details and doesn't smooth it. And then reimported that resed up mesh into 3dc again. But the symmetry is all wacked up. I did a quick search on the forums and saw the solution of using tab key to fix the symmetry manually into the middle. But when I got dwn level in voxels it goes back to screwed up symmetry again and vica versa. Is thre a way to select my voxel layer group and move it tocentre instead of moving symmetry plane. So I can sculpt in symetry and retopo ad texture and whatnot peacefully? I mean this seem to be a very basic opion everyone would need at some pointof time, so i wud assume I am not able to find it properly thats all. PS : I tried To Global Space, it doesn't work. Thanks for any help.
  9. I'm having similar problem and its creating lot ofissues. I created a face from scratch in voxels, exported to zbrush to smooth high so that i don't loose details when I resup in voxels(which is anotjher issue I'm having, how to res up without smoothing details). Anyway so when I bring the mesh back into 3dc, mesh is not in middle. Now I pressed tab and did adjust symmetry in middle, but when i switch to lower res it goes back to same screwed up symmetry and vica versa. Global space in layer also doesnt work. Is there any way to send mesh to 000 space based on middle of the mesh? Thanks
