  1. Hi, anybody: I've run through three tries of attempting to get the provided code (at the linux download link for 3D-Coat 4.1) to create a working desktop launcher in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit. I made the .sh file and the .desktop file executeable under the properties dialogues. I fixed all the file and directory name errors in the code provided (for some reason, hyphens on the downloaded code do not paste into my gedit or bash terminal; I noticed and fixed that). The only way I ever got a desktop launcher working in Ubuntu (back in version 12.04) was to install Wine Windows Application Launcher and use a .lnk file to launch, instead. I don't want to install Wine just for this. Thanks in advance.
  2. NIIICE!!! Since my executable is the 64 bit version, and it is in the /home/user/3D-Coat-V3-5/ directory, the following works for me. Sad that all the Ubuntu 10.04 GUI methods, to make a launcher or link, won't work at all. Now all I need is a 3d-Coat Icon for the properties. #!/bin/bash # 1.Put 3dcoat folder in the follwing directory.Replace <user> with your user name in the code below: cd /home/user/3D-Coat-V3-5/ '/home/user/3D-Coat-V3-5/3d-coat-64' # 2. Put this file in the /3D-Coat-V3-5/ folder # 3. Rename this file to : 3dcoat.lnk # 4. make a link to this file any where you like on your machine
  3. Making a realistic dog sure is tough, if you're limited to Google images for reference. I'd do better if I owned a dog. My sample is an o.k. character dog, but realism is lacking (a steroid freaky look, Krypto? And the ears are perky, but wrong). I don't see how pinch is useful; I make a mound that is slightly too large (with muscle or snake or even an elipsoid primitive) and then airbrush or CRTL + build it down to shape (i.e., whittle). I used X, Y and Z axis backdrops, working the curves tool against them for basic shape, then took liberties with them. Good luck!
  4. Oh well, here I am, answering my own posting. Today (6-7) Linux 3D-Coat asked for my serial number, right after I did a minor software update on Ubuntu. Very strange that the earlier kernel update did not also cause this, I think. I guess as long as I just have 3D-Coat running on one computer, regardless of configuration, I'm legal, and I won't have my serial number deactivated?
  5. Greetings: I am a regular user of disk image backup software (mine is Image for Linux, Terabyte International). If I were to restore an image to my one computer (an image which contains my 3D-Coat registered installation), would 3D-Coat be triggered to indicate I am running it on more than one computer? This worries me. I noticed that a Kernel Upgrade this weekend, for Ubuntu 10.04, did not cause problems. Thanks.
