Member shokan Posted July 12, 2008 Member Report Share Posted July 12, 2008 I tried to follow a thread in this forum about an upcoming volumetric modeling feature for 3DCoat. Is there a good video on the web that shows what this is like and that shows how it differs from other methods? It sounds exciting. Thanks. Member shokan Posted July 12, 2008 Author Member Report Share Posted July 12, 2008 I tried to follow a thread in this forum about an upcoming volumetric modeling feature for 3DCoat. Is there a good video on the web that shows what this is like and that shows how it differs from other methods? It sounds exciting.Thanks. After the last post, I looked up "voxels" and ended up at a site where simple voxel models are created. With my limited knowledge of 3D in general, I got the impression that voxels are 3D units drawn in 3D space and built up in multiples to create a larger volume. Would 3DCoat's new feature be a voxel-type technology? The simple voxel samples are at: http://www.everygraph.com/frame.php?conten...mp;name=voxel3d
Andrew Shpagin
Volumetric modeling is something like you told but better because it produces smooth surfaces. You can read extended info there: http://3dbrush.kriska.hvosting.net/forum/i...?showtopic=1161

I don't know if it is "volumetric modeling." It produces triangle polygonal blobs from a closed 2D curve and you can join things easily. There's alittle GIF animation that I am attaching, but I don't know if it will show up as an animation on the forum. I think they have stopped developing Archipelis any further. http://www.archipelis.com/
