Psmith
We need to know which version of 3D-Coat you are using and what your system specs are to help you with questions like this. Greg Smith

Advanced Member Zeddicus Posted May 12, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 12, 2013 Hold down the shift key to smooth instead of using the effects tool, which doesn't work for me right now either.

Contributor Tony Nemo Posted May 13, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted May 13, 2013 A faster method may be painting on the Normal map in the Texture Editor.
Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted May 15, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted May 15, 2013 I would recommend just going to the Edit menu, then choosing "Edit All Layers in Ext. Editor". It will open up Photoshop and you can then Smudge your textures quickly there. Then Save your Photoshop file and your edits will appear in 3D-Coat. You can also edit a capture of your camera view in 3D-Coat if you want ("Edit Projections in Ext. Editor" in Edit menu). That way you don't have to deal with the flattened UV version of your textures.
