Sculpting tiling surfaces - how ?

I am wondering if it's possible to sculpt a surface, automatically making it tilable. It would be extremely useful when making modular geometry and making textures for games. Note I am not talking about bricks / stones, where artist can just offset individual pieces forming the tiling edges and fill in the middle. I am talking about surfaces like concrete, solid metals, rocky cliffs, etc.

Are there any video tutorials about the subject?

Thanks.

Not quite. As I mentioned, that thread is about putting a surface out of objects. I am talking about continuous surface. Imagine a plane, you have a stroke on the right edge, and a stoke appears on the left edge. So when you copy the plane and move it to the left or right from the original plane, strokes match up and you get seamless transition.
