New Member Jed Posted November 15, 2016 New Member Report Share Posted November 15, 2016 Hey guys, I have a deadline for a client in the next week and I'm stuck trying to unwrap this thing it's really bothering me, this is the best I've been able to get it without it being distorted when I go to apply textures through Photoshop later on. I pretty much want a scratch metal texture on it and for a scratch to be going from one edge to the other without it being distorted. I've tried unwrapping in all modes and just not sure how to get rid of the distortion I will supply screenshots and OBJ if someone else wants to mess around with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated Wall Edge Obj.obj
Contributor Malo Posted November 16, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted November 16, 2016 Easiest way would be to split the wall in 3 parts, two sides and top. You would get alway stretching on a shape like that. You could use the staigthen tool to get it more in shape, but the stretchung would be still there.
New Member Jed Posted November 16, 2016 Author New Member Report Share Posted November 16, 2016 Hey Malo thanks for the reply. my problem was that I wanted a continuous texture to go from one wall to the other pretty much but I'm coming to think that it's not possible at all. When I've cut the wall into three like you said I get 2 straight walls with no distortion but a curved top. The only problem then is that they're not connected so when I draw up my textures in photoshop the seams will be visible since the top half is the main half that is visible. Sorry I didn't know about the straighten edge loops technique until you just mentioned it and I think it may solve my problem I'll see how it goes.
