Member curvedspace Posted January 4, 2017 Member Report Share Posted January 4, 2017 When I import an obj mesh into 3dCoat, I get the Tool Options panel opened up with various options, except what is most critical to me: the XYZ dimensions in real measurements (preferably in mm). Voxel resolution is irrelevant. I don't want to hit the Apply button before I can verify the size it's being imported. I have looked everywhere for some panel that shows the size and saw many tutorials. Am I missing something, or is there nothing there? Member curvedspace Posted January 5, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted January 5, 2017 Thank you Carlosan I didn't know this was there. However the panel you show, though it allows to define the length type, still does not show any dimensions. Here is the statistics panel, before the Apply is invoked (see image). Member curvedspace Posted January 5, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted January 5, 2017 Carlosan, I used the dialogue you show, set exactly so and then clicked OK. The result is the same: zero dimensions (just as shown above in my image).
Carlosan
Are you using the latest version 4.7.19 ? That window popup when you click Show Statics.
Member curvedspace Posted January 5, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted January 5, 2017 I just downloaded and installed the latest version for MacOS, and it's 4.7.11 (GL 64). Even so, the result is still the same: no lengths in mm. I could not find a 4.7.19 version––at least not anywhere obvious enough.

Member curvedspace Posted January 5, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted January 5, 2017 v4.7.16 was just installed. No change in behaviour. Maybe it never worked for the Mac.
Carlosan
Adjust > measure is working fine ?
Member curvedspace Posted January 5, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted January 5, 2017 Yes, but this object is already applied. If you remember, I said, I don't want to hit the Apply button before I can verify the size it's being imported. What I was hoping for is a way to check size prior to committing the voxels, and avoid spot-checking afterwards, which is imprecise and counterproductive.
