Member Eddiemon Posted March 17, 2009 Member Report Share Posted March 17, 2009 Hello, What I'd like to know is, can I create a model in Maya 2008, export that out as an .obj without UVs, import that model into 3DCoat, create UVs, then paint that model, then export it all out to then import back into Maya for animation with all the textures I created in 3DCoat intact? If so, is there a specific tutorial that can show me the exact steps to do so? My goal is to have an application I can rely on for all of my UV mapping and texturing (3DCoat) so I can animate my work in Maya. Thanks for you time:) Ed
Andrew Shpagin
Yes, you can do that. Look uv-mapping tutorial or use Auto-mapping for import object (manual uv maps are always better) http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1068 Then export low-poly object from file menu together with color and normalmap, import in Maya, use textures.
