Member christo Posted June 11, 2009 Member Report Share Posted June 11, 2009 [b]It's magic to work with the version 3 ! I was modeling this mock-up with voxel and painting it after in 3d-coat v 3. Thanks to Andrew for this incredible tool. I try to export the models with texture in 3dsMax but I succeed only whithout a good displacement; in order to have a similar rendering in high definition. if you have an Idea... The only solution I found was to put the displacement map in the bump slot of Max : that's why there is a big difference with the 3DCoat rendering. (When I put the displacement map with different values in the appropriate slot of Max there was a bug), Is there a tutorial to have a good result in Max as well as 3DCoat in rendering ? Advanced Member e214 Posted June 12, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 12, 2009 Have you tried to export the bump as normal map? could help.
Advanced Member e214 Posted June 12, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 12, 2009 I'l try to explain. Your model is in voxelroom ?
Member christo Posted June 12, 2009 Author Member Report Share Posted June 12, 2009 the model was in voxel but I painted it in painting per pixel (not in the voxelroom) in order to paint it easy (with all the colours I want). I have to go outdoor now and I will answer tomorrow to your next reply. the problem is that I don't remember all the steps I was following to have this mesh (but I can say I exported it in middle poly in obj for 3dsMAx). I appreciate your help, Christophe
Advanced Member e214 Posted June 13, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2009 Hi there Re-import the obj. in 3d coaat. On import choose "auto mapping" instead of keep UV then>

Advanced Member e214 Posted June 13, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2009 I used this export ,"world" Seems to work fine in Cinema 4d The texture baking tool is another option and it has MAX normals export
Advanced Member e214 Posted June 13, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2009 On closer inspection all version tried up till now have tiny black holes Don't know how to get rid of them...
Advanced Member e214 Posted June 13, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2009 The tiny holes can be fixed in 3d coat before baking. Just use the smooth tool,to remove them, then bake and u should have a good normal map. For me in c4d I had good results with the world method. U can render out the different normal types then see wich u like best. Learned a lot myself, lol. Many ways to do this,it seems.
Member christo Posted June 13, 2009 Author Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2009 thanks to you , I have a better result : I put the normal map (world space) in the bump slot and I was exporting in high poly from 3dcoat to obj for 3dsMax. View my work and thank you very much for your advices. Christophe
