Member Mix Mash Posted December 15, 2009 Member Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 I'm trying to use the outline function (spline shape option) for the voxel sculpting tools to make individual muscles for my figure. But every tool I use the function, it just adds geometry flush to the camera not flowing with the topology of the mesh. Does anyone know how I can outline shapes on my mesh so that the bulge follows the flow of the topology? Thanks. Paul

Paul Use Surface Tools in latest builds 3.1.18 or 3.1.19(cube icon beside voxtree layer) The spline drawing works with most of the brushes directly on mesh(only for Adding volume,it seems it does not work for substracting). Or you can use voxel Curves tool instead, they always snap on mesh. There is option there to make those curves filled.

The splines DID snap to the surface but any extrusions were still flush to the camera view rather than flowing with the voxel/polygon surface. Anyone else? Maybe this needs to be a feature request? I suppose that masking is already a feature request but this would be a good request, too.
Contributor artman Posted December 19, 2009 Contributor Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 Anyway,Go look at Andrew's twitter he has just added this feature to extrude based voxel brushes as well,it will give more approaches and control. http://bit.ly/68mw73 It is surely gonna be in next build! Meanwhile,my first suggestion can work ok for small parts.
Advanced Member Calabi Posted December 19, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 Thats what I think all the tools need normal surface space based operations instead of/as well as the camera based axes.
Member Mix Mash Posted December 20, 2009 Author Member Report Share Posted December 20, 2009 Excellent! Masking is good for modelling but using spline curves can be much quicker in my opinion especially for fast bulk deformations. Thanks for that info. Cheers, Paul
