Voxels

I am not sure where this should go.

Suppose I start in the voxel mode with a sphere (or any other regular primitive). Next I then go to the freeform primitive, which can be any of them, and I add that freeform object to the sphere - no Boolen operations. I now maniuplate the freeobject and apply. The result is a combined object that is not a smooth surface. As a matter of fact the operation upon the freeobject does not produce a smooth object either.

Now I will have a manipulated object (combination of sphere and freeobject) and I am ready to do some operation on it. Next I perform an axial operation. The result is a very rough looking object with edges that are not sharp. Given that I start with voxels, shouldn't the operation bring about a smooth surface?

In one of the tutorials by Jarvis, one of the tutorials shows a wrap tool video and those appear to be fairly sharp. He does a lot of operations, but all of his finished objecs appear to have sharp edges, not "rough" edges as are produced by my manipulations of the kind that I get. It appears that the freeobject primitive is the problem and not the regular primitives. Jarvis may be using regular primitives, while I am using a combination of regular and freeX primitives. I am on 3.5.14, but I have had this problem in all of 3.5.x builds.

Here is an example of which I speak (see attached screenshot).

I am a beginner in this program. My thanks in advance.
