Member Chufu Posted February 10, 2008 Member Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 A program like 3D-Brush must support more 3D-Fileformats. Requiered are dxf,3ds,stl,vrml and dae(Colada). Only obj,lwo and fbx are not enough. Also desirable are this Formats: DirectX .x Caligari .cob Cybemotion .cmo Blender .blend OpenFX .mfx Silo3D .sia Bryce5 and 6 .br5,.br6 Carara .car PovRay .pov Regards Peter
Member xrok1 Posted February 10, 2008 Member Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 i believe all the progs you listed support .obj, so i don't see what the need is.
Advanced Member yukon_28 Posted February 10, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 i believe all the progs you listed support .obj, so i don't see what the need is. Agree. FBX is really good for us working on Autodesk sw, and obj is clearly best universal format. I cant see any point in adding formats "for the checkbox", if this file format or another has some features others lacks, so its should be implemented, in the right time (i mean 3db is a very young software and i am sure developers have some priorities). Also i am hardly belive all Caligari .cobCybemotion .cmo Blender .blend OpenFX .mfx Silo3D .sia Bryce5 and 6 .br5,.br6 Carara .car PovRay .pov Will be implemented soon, because is not the softwares with largest user base\popularity, anyway The Big 5 (Max-Maya-XSI-LW-C4D) have priority IMO
Advanced Member StereoMike Posted February 10, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 10, 2008 I don't see the point either. Any package I know is able to read .obj + mtl. And you won't export directly into your .x gameengine, cause you have to add animations in your favorite 3D package (e.g. big 5) after using 3DB - and then export from there. Coding your suggested gazillion of im/exporters will only halt development with only little effect on the product. mike
