Hi. Im a new user with the trial. Im wondering how if (and I havent done this yet) when I have an object that I autoRetopo which gives me a hi and a low. Can I bake displacement data from the high onto Ptex on the low within this application or will I have to do that somewhere else?

Thanks.

Yes you can, Retopo Room /Retopo menu/ merge with Ptex

The downside of auto-retopo and auto-uv map is that the mesh and uv maps are not laid out as well as you can do manually and you can get some projection errors in the displacement maps.

Auto-retopo with edge loops is better as you can place guide strokes for creating the mesh.

Check the link out and the second part of the tutorial will help you on using auto-retopo with guide strokes...

Uv maps are not a concern with ptex of course but a good laid out mesh is to avoid projection errors...
