      I think it is most often an .xml file that gets corrupted, somehow. Another thing that has probably made things more buggy than normal is the addition of QT and Python. I hope it gets sorted out soon.

      there is a list of groups that have no one corresponding volume only serves to determine if a name is missing.  This function will help find Retopo Objects that have corresponding Sculpt Objects. If there are any corresponding objects with similar names, the Retopo Object will bake only the details from the Sculpt Object with the same name. Unlike SP, in 3DC the volume name on Sculpt layers and Polygroup layers must have the same name. Name correspondence it’s actually sequential texture baking. Other tools allow you to explode the mesh meaning it will move all the individual parts out in space so that you can bake everything in one pass and 3DCoat is handled somewhat differently but the objective is the same.  Another thing to keep in mind is if you have secondary elements that you want to be baked with another mesh as if they are all one then what you would do is in the Sculpt tree layer panel in the sculpt workspace you would make those child layers.

      Hello,   I've been working with a lot of character models, and the one thing that really makes me wonder why it's not obvious is Paint Fill per UV Island is not available for the 3d viewport. I have clothing, complex architectures, and monsters with lots of UV islands and seams (like upwards of 50 UV Islands per material) and trying to Paint fill a certain part of a mesh, like a shirt collar or a Claw is a very slow and painful process. Trying to dig it out from the Texture Editor when its scattered everywhere is also slow and requires guessing, especially if I don't know which island belongs to what before painting it. Is there a way to paint or Fill bucket UV Islands without the Texture Editor so I can just click on certain parts of the mesh and it'll fill with that Color or smart Material only. I've read the past suggestions to use Freeze and invert, but that also requires the Texture Editor open and you finding the exact island you need to fill. Is there a better way than that to do something so simple without the Texture Editor?

      Hello ! So I'm new to 3DCoat and I wanted to bake my high on my low, I usually use Substance Painter but I got recommended 3DCoat. As im having my High on the Sculpt Room and my low with its uv done on the Retopo Room I want to bake it so I can finally paint it but I have a message when I hit Correspond Retopo Object w/Sculpt object : there is a list of groups that have no one corresponding volume. Also I have the 2024 version. If someone can also tell me what to do next in order to paint it because I'm really lost and after a tons of slow videos I'm still lost... Please help.

      One of the biggest bugs in 3DCoat is corrupted files (xml or .3b). Many times over the years I have reported a bug that Andrew was not able to reproduce....but yet, it is still a huge Bug on the user end. That means some sort of file corruption. How does it get corrupted? Is it corrupted from a crash? Is it corrupted when 3DCoat hangs indefinitely (like it has many times for me lately) and after 20-30 minutes of 3DCoat needlessly causing the computer to merely function as a space heater, I have to force the app to close through Windows Task Manager? Either way, there needs to be some sort of diagnostic tool users can utilize to determine if the software has a bug (that Andrew can reproduce) or if it is acting like a bug because of a corrupted file. It takes too long to troubleshoot the many problems we run into, lately. I have about 10 or more renamed "MyDocuments/3DCoat" directories in just the past month, trying to discover this and it is a huge waste of time and effort trying to troubleshoot each time I run into a bug.  Right now, in 2026.01, just switching tools in the Retopo room is often EXTREMELY laggy....like 30-60secs. For some reason, this is not always repeatable...and I think this explains why Andrew is not able to repeat problems that are reported. Very often, when I try to record a bug, suddenly the software starts behaving correctly...almost like a little spoiled, misbehaving brat taken to his/her parent to report their bad behavior. Suddenly, the little brat starts behaving like an angel in front of the parent. But once they are away from the parent and back on the school playground, they resume their bad behavior. Likewise, 3DCoat sometimes resumes its buggy behavior once you resume working on the model. Case in point, when I was working in the Retopo room the other day. The tool switching was abysmally slow and it was taking me all day to do what I could normally do in a few hours, at most. I started to make a video bug report to send to Alexander...but the buggy behavior suddenly stopped as soon as the recording began. So, I abandoned the recording. Then, just as I resumed working on the model again, not even 1 or 2 minutes later, the super laggy tool switching came back. I say that to make this point. When Andrew cannot reproduce a bug that is reported, please try to take a few moments working with the tool, because 50% of the time, he will not discover it within a click or two. A really good example of this is the mesh tearing (holes randomly created in the mesh, for no reason at all) in Surface mode. I don't know how many times I have reported this and it never seems to get fixed. I suspect it is because when Andrew tests the work file, it doesn't immediately create holes. It didn't immediately create hole for the user either. It just randomly happens, usually. That means Andrew needs to do about 5-10 minutes worth of sculpting to try and get it to reproduce the holes.

      If a bug is reported on the forum, it is immediately checked and, if successfully reproduced, passed on to the developers. For this purpose, we use two bug trackers: MantisBT and Jira.

      No, he means moving from Poly Group panel to Poly Models panel.

      @AbnRanger you mean this?   Desktop 2026-04-11 23-32-28.mp4

      That issue was reported here any +1 is very welcome Thanks !

      Does not work me either.

      Any plans to add this? It's quite hard for human hands to draw straightish lines at some angles, so rotating the canvas is quite important to be able to get better pen strokes at tricky angles.

      mines working , but theres no icon to show where the grab marker is , its located right of the polygroup name
