  1. Hi all ! (A little about me - I am a user of 3D coat - not a beginner but not an advanced one - Just a casual one. Although I am a professional in 3D I never got to use it in my day to day pipeline. ) I would like my son who is 13.5 y/o to try 3D coat and I was wondering if I can activate a second copy on his PC? Cheers Nir
  2. OK - There wasn't one and I peeked into the INI files and created a folder where it was supposed to be and now the UI run fine. THX
  3. Installed the script but once I launch the program it says it cannot locate the 3d-coat porgram - - when I close the message - the UI closes as well and I cannot use the button to change the path. I tried modifying the path to 3d-coat inside the script code ( Since it is not in the c:\programs\3d-coat) - but it still gives me that message. NIR
  4. Cleitus hi Any chance of having your tuts in English and in English UI of 3dC ? Awesome work ! NIR
  5. Yet Zbrush on the long run is very cheap considering the $$$ users spent upgrading since its first version ( = 0) :-)
  6. @RabenWulf Still easier and more exact in 3DC Basically - heaven is having both programs and taking advantage of each best . :-) NIR
  7. Albert I am new to both programs and have bought both in the last 3 months (need it for my work). I can say a lot of pros and cons but the super PRO for 3D Coat for me is the hardsurface modeling. In Zbrush yo have (until Zbrush 4R7 comes out) very painful tools for that matter - using a shadow box in ZBrush is for very patient users. in 3D COAT I could create a gun in less than an hour - and I say it as a new user ! (please look at the attached images - I painted it in Substance Painter) I do find the rooms concept a bit lousy - I bought Zbrush because I could easily import a rough model of a terrain (from 3ds max) and UV+Texture AND Export it in no time - I could not do it with 3DC - and believe me - I tried. the Sculpting tools in 3DC and in ZB are awesome so I reckon you may get the same results in both at the same time if you know the tools. Regards.
  8. Hi all Isn;t there a mirror tool in the voxel room ? I am trying something like the mirror and weld in ZBrush but cannot work it out - Tried the "Apply" Axial Symmetry" but cant understand the logic of it - tried typing various logical numbers but all fail to perform a simple mirror.... :-( NIR
  9. Hi all Coming from many 3D and 2D programs I miss drawing orthogonal lines by holding the Shift key. I tried searching all over the place and could not find - Is there a way to draw lines (or polylines) in 0/45/90/180 angles ? TIA NIR
  10. Best time of my life - Really ! 1989-1993 StudieD @ Universidad De Belgrano L@st time I visited was 1995 - Long time ago ! :-)
  11. 1. IMPORT TOOL 2. 4.1.13 BTW - Carlos - are you from BsAs ? I lived there for 5 years.
  12. mmm.. I tried importing to Sculpt from Retopo and after I pressing the Apply button - it disappears.. What was I doing wrong ?
  13. Carlos and Javis - Thanks - I will look into it. Carlos - i think your hints are what I missed - the small buttons one always overlooks :-) Javis - Your videos are awesome. BTW - My website is here: http://orvatsel.com/eng/ Regards NIR
  14. I sort of managed to Retopo the mesh manually and managed to export an OBJ + map but I cannot resume sculpting in Coat - any suggestion ? Nir
  15. THX You suggest many workflows but most of them I cannot even perform since: 1. I dont see the merge operations in the menus (not even in the Vox menu right click menu. 2. My files seem to hog the Coat's memoery - even though they are not big surface inside 3ds max. Also - Can I insert a UVmapped mesh and sculpt it ? I dont see it in the sculpt room and cant "move" it there. I tried many combinations of trials - failing in all. In the attached image you can see the patch in 3ds max - I want to import to Coat and sculpt and paint and export The problem is that once I import it - Coat may ctrash (I have 24 gigs of RAM !!!) and if I tried to Reopo - it also hangs the system or takes hours to do and than create a joke of retopo. (most of the time I do not bother waiting) It is frustrating since yesterday I tried doing it with Mudbox and managed to do it the first time but I came to like coat so much that I am struggling to choose it over Mudbox. :-(
  16. Hola Carlos ! (Gracias por tu respuesta) I think I may live without displ. maps or normal maps for now. I prefer using a high polymesh for the renders Although I think of using those maps shortly after I get to do learn more of 3d-coat. Whare those sample projects files are ?
  17. Hi ! I'm Nir from Holon (Just south of Tel Aviv) ISRAEL , Almost 48 , Married + 2 kids. I am a professional architectural visualizer. Although I have heard the name 3D COAT before - I alway thought it was a 3ds max plugin until by chance I discovered it was an amazing Sculpting tool. In the last 10 days I have been watching almost every 3D-Coat video on YouTube. I am struggling with some issues (mainly exporting textures + many bugs crashing it) but once I resolve them (hopefully with your help) I am buying it since it will be amjor workflow enhancement.
  18. Hi all I am new here. I am trying to create a texture for a terrain and fail repeatedly: 1. I imported an OBJ file I created in 3ds max which is basically the basis for voxel modeling inside 3DCOAT. (I tried this workflow doesens of times woth or without UVMapping inside 3ds max) - Once I modeled it and painted it I could not create and export a color texture - I tried baking both in the retopo and in Paint rooms. For some reason after Importing a mesh - I sometimes do not see it in the UV or the Reopo rooms. I have seen doesens of videos on youtube but none deals with a somewhat big terrain with cliffs and in most of the case the UV is already ,mapped. Also -the AutoRetopo for that big terrain - always crashed 3DCOAT or is just palin bad. I tried all the methods I managed to learn in the last 10 days and always fail. I did manage to vcreae a small boulder + painting + Uving it Am I doomed to not succeed ? I have quie a strong PC (24 gigs of RAM + Win7 64) I may say that If I manage to work this out - This is a sure buy - Other than exporting a texture - I managed to model and paint my dream terrain for the 3D viZ I make for living. Regards NIR
