  1. Oh wow! Color picker no longer deselects active strip, thank you so much !
  2. Odd issue, a bug ? I deleted some paint layers, one called emissive, the other paint. Then I started painting on brand new ones. so I'm painting on layer 3, then I create a new layer, it's called Layer 6. I go to layer blending and use layer 3 as a mask, no problem. I create a new layer, called layer 7, and go to layer blending because I want to use layer 6 as a mask.... the dropdown menu shows the old layers now, emissive and paint, which no longer exists. Saving the file, exiting, and reloading made the layers in the scrolldown menu display correctly.
  3. Just use the clone tool in paint room it works fine with sculpt layers, you only have to make sure what you want to copy is actually stored on a sculpt layer. I have a video how to achieve that if you need. (First make a smooth version of your mesh, then use the reproject tool to get the actual detail of your original mesh. what you reproject is stored on sculpt layers, thus can be cloned with the paint room clone tool).
  4. Freeze tool on voxels is a cool addition. I understand if it can only be made to work with surface tools in voxel mode, and to make a selection for the pose tool. However it is disturbing that if you switch to a voxel tool, you lose the freeze selection and cannot get it back. also, you can use the move tool, for one stroke, then the freeze selection vanishes. (that's not very useful).
  5. I don't see this line next to the download link, or in the notes : " This is essentially BETA build, be careful with re-writing saved scenes. Too many changes were done. We tried to check and test carefully, but need your help to check if all workflows work correctly. Thanks for testing. " Maybe it would be a good idea to add it in big letters ? For some time now I try to remember to "save incrementally" all the time. Losing a saved scene is quite scary. When you do lose a file (crashes 3dc on opening it), I have found that sometimes you can recover at least some of it. One way is to open with a different version of 3dc. For example you might be able to open a broken sculpt layers file with a non sculpt layer build, but you of course lose the sculpt layers information in the process. One way to recover a sculpt object with its sculpt layers and painting is to open a new instance of 3dc and use the File > import object in the sculpt room to open the broken .3b file. It is probably a bit early to say but it seems that the problem I had with sphere tool losing track of pick point resulting in the start of a stroke being bad, or the camera going crazy, I think that issue disappeared. Yesterday on the discord someone else had a similar issue with the quad tool in the retopo room.
  6. Sculpt layers "available for the limited time period", may I ask, why is that ? Thanks.
  7. Hi, no, not at all Carlosan, I mean the camera rotating around itself, I think that's what's called "freecam" in most games. I use rotate around last pick point, that works well with a simple object, like a character or something like that. But... what about a whole building with an inside, or a huge terrain, or.... a creature with tentacles, or simply a chair ! "Camming" becomes difficult then with "last pick point", because the pointer can easily pass over a distant leg, tentacle or mountain and throw you off course. I'm talking about navigation with a 3d mouse of course. rotation around world center / object bounding box is just too painful. I make do with "around last pick point", but it has become increasingly difficult lately, because of that problem that was mentioned before, of the sphere tool losing the ability to "pick" when not drawing a stroke. Other tools have had that problem for even longer but I can't remember which, I think maybe "plane" not sure.
  8. Is there a chance of ever getting a true Freecam mode ? i.e. the camera rotates around itself ?
  9. Interesting. I baked and saved incrementally instead of just saving. Then, I forgot to close and reopen. I spent some time merging layers and importing textures. Then, when I touched a layer with the eraser, 3dc froze for a second and didn't crash. I am not sure what made a difference. maybe saving incrementally ? I'll experiment with that. **** edit : ***** Hmm, quick test with a mesh from the retopo models panel. not saved, and no crash... so I guess the crash does not occur with very simple bakes, or when there is no sculpt layers information. I don't know, no time to do further tests right now.
  10. I mentioned it on the 4.8 thread back in March. I did not remember that but apparently one version fixed it.... but it must have come back shortly after
  11. I get the same thing for the last few versions, systematically, without exception. And it is not just the fill tool. As soon as I touch the paint layers with any tool, the crash occurs. Luckily, I get promted to save the file before 3dc shuts down. When I reopen all works fine. Now I got used to saving the file after baking, closing 3dc myself and reopening the file to paint. //edit solved on version 4.9.15
  12. Am I alone feeling crippled by the fact that colour picker (V) deselects active strip ? Steps to reproduce : (Any version) select a strip from the strips panel press V or your custom keyboard shortcut for colour picker. >Strip is deselected
  13. Well, yes, it works fine without... but... that's not how I want to use it :)
  14. Untitled.mp4 Here is a video showing a problem I am having with the sphere tool. It started I think one of the last releases of 4.8 This here is with 4.9.04 GL (also happens with DX) So, the tool seems to be confused as to where to pick at the start of each stroke. It will start at a random location away from the brush, and either draw a single dot there in mid air, or draw a straight line from that point to where the brush actually is. Also, with camera set to rotate on last pick point, you can see later in the video that the brush pointer starts going crazy. This often results in the view spinning around and going miles off.
  15. Please, yes please. I have asked about this several times, but no other user ever acknoledged this would be useful. I just don't get it, because I think this would make such a huge difference. Also consider this : When you disable tooltips, you don't even see the names or previews when you hover over a material or shader or alpha or strip anymore !
  16. It does not seem stuck for me, but then again, I can't really see a difference in strength whether I set it to 0% or 100% it seems to act the same, is that what you mean ?
  17. When I hide the voxtree, at the root, the objects do not disappear until I move the camera. On the other hand, if I hide a layer in the voxtree, the display refreshes correctly.
  18. So, CTRL+Paint erases colour, it erases roughness/metal, but it paints bump, upwards, is that how it behaves for everyone ?
  19. Yes please what is the replacement, because the "invert tool" checkbox at top of screen is inactive too
  20. 4.9.0.2SL GL I can only paint bumps in paint room. i.e. CTRL or "invert tool" has no effect. Anyone else ?
  21. Well, I know this is a very old topic, but still, I found a very awkward solution, albeit it works perfectly. Using the SpaceNavigator and going to its settings, I just uncheck every axis except the last one. and set 3d coat to rotate around world center. It works perfectly like a turntable.
  22. in 4.9.01SL I can't assign keys in the customize navigation window by clicking on the Assign Keys button. The text that tells you to press key combinations appears and just remains there, nothing happens whatever I press. I can still assign hotkeys elsewhere by using the end key. Anyone has the same problem ?
  23. Hello Confident, did you ever find a solution ? I am trying to do the same thing so that I can make vertical strokes with the 2d paint tool. The SpaceNavigator is awesome, I use it all the time, but it does not solve this particular problem.
