  1. That work great after a bit of messing around. Is it possible to save the cloth out as a polygon mesh rather than having to convert it to Voxels first? I can't get the reset button work either, I kept having to choose default cloth, which meant I had to start all over again? Cheers Andy
  2. I've been trying to do a fairly simple thing and that is to drape some cloth over an object but without any success. Is it even possible to import an object done in Lightwave and drape cloth over it using the cloth tool? I've checked in this forum but can't see any similar threads. Cheers Andy
  3. Thanks, I think I've solved it, I needed to increase the smoothing amount. I didn't realise it needed to be as high, had it in my head that 10 was the max The image show circle and the edges are very good with the higher smoothing. Thanks
  4. However, I'm still having issues with contour, rectangle and circle..... The image shows contour.
  5. So scaling the brush is a problem? The left brush works great for big brushes but as you scale it down it becomes jaggy edged. I know this isn't the place to post this but while I'm here: I thought I would try this in 3DCoat DX but found that while a mesh would load it isn't being displayed - 3DCoat ver. 2.10.15. Thanks
  6. Here's a comparison screen grab between LW and 3DCoat. The black disk was done in Photoshop and looks fine in Lightwave but it imports badly into 3DCoat. The texture is 4500x4500 in size. I tried saving the texture out of 3DCoat and it looked like it does on my screen grab. So even textures done in Photoshop are being downgraded, when saving out of 3DCoat.
  7. Here I've used the lasso tool in Photoshop to trace over the image, even at a much lower resolution the result is much cleaner.
  8. Here is an example using the contour brush. The sphere is about 6 meters diameter, so it's not as if I'm zooming in too close.
  9. Here is a different import, this is from LW by the way. The sphere is just low poly for a test. I was trying to do some work on a low poly figure but the results are looking poor.
  10. Thanks Andrew but it does not seem to be any better. Here are the results from your suggestion.
  11. Being able to drag all of the pallets and tool bars onto another screen would be very handy indeed. This, for me, would solve the cluttered interface.
  12. It's been a while since I last used 3DCoat and I'm finding it hard to get a decent brush stroke. I'm not doing anything much except painting on a low res. sphere, what should I be loading the mesh in as so as to avoid these jagged edges? The attach image just used the Paint with Ellipse and the result is very crude, I don't get any better with other brush types.
  13. Yes it comes out of demo but then says trial with 14 days left, is this correct? Thanks
  14. Well I took a flyer and downloaded and installed and it's come up as 2.10f so that's OK. Cheers
  15. I've rather belatedly read through all the posts and didn't realise that a lot of people are having problems with the GL version. I have the DX version is running fine here so it is just the GL version that has the problems. I still don't know what version I should be on, there's mention of 2.10f on the opening page but when I select the link I get 3d-coat-2-10-beta1-upd.exe and no mention of 2.10f. I'm also only getting 14 day trial coming up and my serial number doesn't seem to be valid for this beta, so do we have to re-register or something? Thanks
  16. I have not been back here for a while and was hoping to catch up on the new beta, I downloaded what I assume is the current version but got this crash. Can someone tell me what the current version is and which link I should be using, I'm finding the first page links very confusing. Here's the crash screen grab, which may or may not be valid but it does show the version I'm using. Thanks
  17. 3D Brush 2.07 beta3 does seems to be saving its options file ok, so I doubt it is that.
  18. Well 3D Brush 2.06 seems to be able to save its options fine, I only get this problem in the 2.07 beta3. Andy
  19. Thanks, it does work, I just didn't realise you needed to choose Pressure Dependence. Thanks Andy
  20. Sorry still don't get it, what exactly should I be doing? Andy
  21. Hi Andrew, A couple of minor issues: 1. I've positioned my layers list next to my preset list but when I close the program and re-open it the prest list has moved. In fact the preset list seems to have a life of it's own, move it to one place, re-open 3d Brush and it's moved again. 2. When I open 3D Brush it always opens to fill the screen, if I resize it on the desk top it does not stay that size when I re-open it. 3. This is probable not a small thing to change, but along with many other users, I have 2 monitors and it would be great if I could move all my pallets over to the second monitor instead of having them cramped up on the one screen. Thanks Andy
  22. Hi Andrew, I'm still missing this.... I assume I only need to be in fill mode? Andy
  23. Yes, a great update Just noticed that I am missing the ability to switch preview mode, the little icon is not there on the left of the preview heading bar. While checking the above, it suddenly occurred to me that while using the texture fill tool the mouse pointer (pen), remains the same. I had to check that this was the case in the final version 2.06 and it is. I have to say it looks confusing and I wonder if the pen should change to reflect that you are using a fill not a pen. Perhaps just changing the pointer shape or even keeping the yellow pen circle but having just cross hairs inside, just something to show you are in a different mode. Just a thought. Andy
  24. I definitely think the dark version is the best. I really like the style of interface attached, though I appreciate it's not to everyone's liking. Andy
  25. I have to say my experience with any sculpt tool, ZBrush or Mudbox, is all but non-existent. However, the problem I have with 3D Brush is that you don't seem to be able to set a hight that you can sculpt too. In other words, if you hold the mouse button down over a mesh, it just goes on and on adding height or depth. Consequently I just can't get a smooth result, if all I want is a smooth line all I get is a lumpy bumpy line. It's probably a lack of technique on my part but I find it very difficult to get anything I am happy with at the moment Andy
