  1. Is the base helmet object available? My "Samples" folder mentioned doesn't have it, for both 3D Coat and my old install of 3D Brush.
  2. I must say the best camera navigation I've ever used in in Unreal Ed (and presumably the Unreal Engine). That method is LMB moves forward/back and rotates left/right. RMB rotates freely around the cameras middle, and RMB+LMB moves the camera up, down, left, and right. It sounds confusing but after a couple minutes it really becomes fast an intuitive. The scroll wheel also zooms in/out. Might not be very helpful here though, unless you hold down a key like Alt while doing it.
  3. I think the Sculpting Mode options need a better work flow. It feels like there's an unnecessary step to click the drop down, and then click the tool you want. I propose just a row of buttons so you can quickly jump between tools. For the tools that have additional options the window can expand below the buttons. I made a quick mock-up to show what I mean, see the attachment.
  4. Frankly I wasn't too fond of 3D Coat, it does sound like something you wear in cold weather to me. However I could get used to 3DC I think. Heck if it becomes popular with game development you'll have a new marketing phrase right there. "3DC at GDC". You just have to get to the Game Developers Conference. Whoever mentioned Yahoo! being an American term for calling out over a distance, I take it you yourself are not American. It has nothing to do with distance. It's something you shout when you're excited like "Yahoo! I just won the lottery!" Not many people actually say it, I think it's a Texas thing. It was also used in the book Gulliver's Travels where the talking horses called humans "Yahoos". It's also a slang name for someone who is stupid or crazy. Funny story about Mudbox: Almost exactly a year ago I was walking along with a friend (who's not into 3D at all) and telling him "So I was playing with Mudbox the other day--" He cut me off because he thought I was about to say something dirty about my girlfriend. My friend is weird.
  5. Maybe I'm missing it, but I think it would be great to have something like MudBox's Pinch brush. it sucks all of the geometry towards the center of the brush, great for making sharp creases or other hard edges. Image of it in use attached.
  6. I haven't tried this but it may work if you load the 3DB version into a background layer and use the Background to Morph tool.
  7. You can say that again, I played with it today and feel really lost. Like you said even the Introduction tutorials are confusing. Someone on their forum complained that the tutorials look like they were made for someone who's used the program for a while and they replied that it assumes the reader has gone through the interface tour. But that tour is just as confusing looking.
  8. Just so people won't have to search, the website is: http://www.mapzoneeditor.com/
  9. Don't mean to be the grammar police, but that should be "existing" and (in the image) "create".
  10. Yes I have it seems to be working well now, thanks.
  11. Cool thanks, I know you're getting a lot of requests. I hope it doesn't get too overwhelming.
  12. I've been wondering if there's some way to adjust this. Sometimes I nee to see a small area closeup but it dissappears before I can get close enough.
  13. Good question, I've never had to deal with it in other programs. This kind of reminds me of years ago when people were making NES emulators and the computer was too powerful, the games would run really fast. Maybe 3DB is just too good!
  14. You're right, I don't usually use Alt+*MB in Lightwave, I use the navi icons. In 3DB It does not happen with the icons, only with the Alt key. For example start with the mouse somewhere in the middle of the screen and hold Alt. Now click/drag all the way to the left side of the screen and let go of the mouse (but keep holding Alt) Now the screen continues to move even though you're not touching the mouse button. Interesting addition to this I just noticed. I loaded up the cube object for testing, with a brush tool active, and did this: Drag RMB the the edge of the screen Let Go Move mouse back into the screen Now the brush is drawing all over your object even though you're not pushing any buttons at all. Oh I see. My 3DB is not in full screen mode, I just stretch it out to fill the screen (I like to see Vista's Aero-glass). So all of this only happens in Window mode.
  15. I spent a good few hours with 3D Brush today UV mapping an old character from scratch. I found a few things that I think would make it even better. UV seams currently are created with RMB removed with Ctrl+RMB while LMB does nothing. Seems to me that it would make more sense to use LMB to remove them It would be a lot easier to remove a whole line of accidentally created seams if you could just drag across them instead of having to click each one. It would be a lot easier to add / remove seams if you could see the wireframe, or at least make the model flat shaded with no lighting / spec. I can never figure out what point the camera is spinning around. It would be nice to center a point on the screen and spin around that. Or at least have it spin around the center of the screen. Minor bugs: If you use symmetry while editing seams it's not perfectly accurate. For example I finished one leg of my character, then looked at the other leg and some of the seam lines were slightly out of place. Also the "UV Store" button does not remember the last folder used. When you're dragging the camera to move/zoom/rotate... When the mouse reaches edge of screen RMB locks on. You have to click to let go. One option could be to have the mouse pointer disappear while navigating, this is what LightWave does.
  16. Well however you do it your doing a great job, I've been telling all of my friends about it. I don't think I've seen updates come this fast and furious from any software, most of the time you're lucky to see a paid update every 6 months.
  17. I sent a text file from the dongle program. If anyone's using this with Vista and getting errors right click it and choose Run As Administrator.
  18. Can't many of these thing be changed with the tablet software? I know I just bought an Intuos 3 yesterday to replace my old Intuos 1 that is no longer supported and I noticed you can set the stylus buttons (and tablet buttons) to do just about anything, even keystrokes.
  19. The new Navi is acting a little strange for me. The rotate moves fine at first but then as I drag it whips around. Same for the pan, it moves normally at first, then suddenly zips across the screen. The zoom seems fine so far.
  20. Is there an option in 3D Brush for adjusting the pen sensitivity? It seems like I barely touch stylus to tablet and it zooms in/out really fast or I get a huge bump when I just wanted something subtle.
