  1. Just screwing around today...
  2. Just a quick update before my Nyquil kicks in and I pass out at my keyboard. I reverted to a previous version before I started to get the out of memory crashes and worked a bit more on the over all shape...will continue tomorrow.
  3. Thanks for the input. Yeah, those are the things I'm trying to tweak now but I'm running into out of memory problems in Ubuntu. I'm attempting to re-topologize it so I can bring a lower res base mesh back in to tweak and continue on with...hopefully it works out. :p
  4. Woke up sick today so I figured it would be a good day to just relax and work with 3dcoat a bit. I'm having a blast so far but maybe next time I'll pick something besides just a boring head. :p I'm still tweaking and poking around so I'll have more updates of this.
  5. Hey all, I wanted to inform everybody that we are hosting a new contest over at NurbsandPolys.com! http://www.nurbsandpolys.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193 1. First place winner receives SILO Pro and 3D-Coat 2. Second place winner receives 3D-Coat 3. Third place winner receives 3D-Coat Hope to see you all there, good luck! (Hopefully this is the correct forum area to put this in, sorry if it is not!)
  6. Aha, yeah that's the same bug as I posted only I didn't try it with applying shadows...that's weird. So it's just a cavity bug all around. :P
  7. Sweet Andrew, so far the multi core option is working nicely! The To Polygons is working nicely in this build as well.
  8. I know AMD has a Tri-Core chipset out. I'm not sure if Intel does as well.
  9. I'm getting an issue when rendering any cavity map shader. When I ESC out of the render it seems like the rendered cavity stays in the same spot when I rotate around the model...here's a video showing the issue. http://www.pnoland.com/wips/3dc/bugs/3dc_a..._render_bug.mov (1.5mb)
  10. I was going to ask that myself, it seems that it's broken in the latest version. I'm using the Windows 24 version, press the button and switch to the retopology tools and nothing shows up.
  11. I like the form of the hulk character i posted last night so i'm smoothing out the crappy muscles and reworking things on this one, here's the progress so far.
  12. Maybe I've been too busy playing with new tools rather than learning 2.10 but if there is not a proper image plane tool can we get that as well? Here's a photo I found which is what I'm talking about...it would be a huge life saver for sculpting specific shapes. Sorry if it's been requested and or in the app already
  13. Well, I am pleased with the new beta 24. The tools seem faster on my computer now. This one was inspired by the shader list lol I deleted the initial sphere and imported the low poly one. From there I just smoothed it out so it wasn't so squared then just used the move tool, extrude tool and pinch tool to make this guy this evening. I got adventurous in Photoshop on it as you can see lol
  14. Hmm, maybe it's a ram issue on my pc. I'll have to throw another gig in when I get the time. Haha, yeah i was noticing our names are fairly similar. Good thing you didn't go with pnolan as your username
  15. While I find the new tools to be fun they are quite slow on my system. I'm not sure if it's the same for everybody but I'm noticing that when I do simple things like use the move tool in Volumetric mode my FPS drops down to about 5 when normally it's around 70-80 for other functions of the program. I will say that generally the slow down is when I have a larger brush size but for doing things like shaping a sphere to form a head or moving large sections of the model it's needed but kind of a bummer when it only works very slow. I get similar performance on both the DirectX and OpenGL versions. I have a Geforce 9600 gt (512mb ddr3) with 2 gigs of ddr2 ram on AMD 64 X2 4400+ system. Is anybody else getting this much of a performance hit when using the new tools? (sorry if I should've posted this in another thread)
  16. Hehe, nice work on this one!
  17. Here's another doodle. Base mesh was created in Silo then converted to a volumetric model and sculpted with 3dc. Fun stuff!! Oh, here's the base mesh before it was converted: http://www.pnoland.com/wips/liz_3dc_beta3_base.jpg
  18. Hey all, This is just a doodle I did this morning while I had my coffee. I'm enjoying the new sculpting tools so far!
  19. Fun render. They look like something you can pick up at a local crafts fair.
  20. Haha, thanks. Yes, I guess it could be a ring. :P Even I'm still not sure what it is.
  21. Well, as I sit here with my fun sinus infection feeling like crap I fired up 3dcoat for some fun. I'm not sure if the cold medicine kicked in as I was thinking of what to do or what but here is what I ended up with. I made a simple base in Silo, sculpt/paint in 3dc, then rendered in Cinema4d. This program is awesome. Just so I don't start a new thread since it was a basic test here was my first "From 3dcoat to Cinema4d" test.
