  1. Brilliant! Artman. Thought it took me longer to find out where that button was than it took for your reply!!! Thanks for the super quick answer , its appreciated . ( still lovin' the Trim tool!) Yup, this is the first time I have really used the mannequin, It s going quite well, but there is a lot of bits to merge together later. Initially it seems easier to get a nice pose than faffing around with the pose tool. But its swings and roundabouts like the rest of life... Maybe I might just get a nice pose then copy it with curves, i will see how it goes. Edit : And thanks to you also AbnRanger! If I would have tuned in 5 mins later and saw your post I would have found the button quicker!! I was looking everywhere apart from the tool list duh....
  2. I've just been using the segmented mannequin.......whats with the wacky symmetry on this? I posed all the segments into a vaguely chimp shape in a pose. Then when I tried to adjust the segments with the move tool to fill the gaps on the arm and legs , the opposite segment moves as well ....even If i turn off sym. Anyone get this. I'm using the .05 update because .08 seemed a bit stop start with the brushes. But then again so it seems is .05. Might try .09.
  3. In the 'camera' pulldown, go to background and tick the 'Lock Environment' box....see how that looks. Though this may depend on what shader you are using.
  4. I render without pbr/hdr in my other software , I just use spotlights mainly, The old way I can use like a spotlight.I can see what I am going to get. Looking forward to see how B21 looks. It will be good to have the different options.
  5. Thanks ,I will take a look at your vid. I had some time with blender a while back, but didnt get on with it. Carrara does glass fine. I have been looking for a "one stop shop" but I guess there isnt one . Every single software I use has something missing from it! Been asking about refracted glass at Pixologic.but my forum posts just get ignored...its like they are in denial that glass does not actually work in zbrush!! Now, I am not discounting operator error...that usually is the case when I do stuff. I did a tutorial and checked all the numerous buttons that are in a multitude of places....it just does not render for me. I have a bee in my bonnet about this,even though I hardly want to use it ,I just wanted to do some mouth gloop and a proper eye ball.( I challenge you to render a crystal ball in zbrush......then tell me how to do it.hee hee) I had the demo of keyshot for zbrush last week ,it runs fine on my 7 year old computer,but its a little bit pricey for me.Maybe if it goes on offer again. Just watched the vid. This is what I want to do with carrara,but it does not do vertex colours. But it does do fbx...maybe I have missed something. Its like you say in the vid, I am just trying to avoid all unwrapping shennanigans. As soon as that screenfull of "nodes" appeared in your vid, my eyes just glazed over. They have that affect on me. Maybe its time to take up crown green bowling as a hobby....
  6. Is it possible to render any sort of refracted glass in 3dCoat? If not, is it being thought about for the future. I managed to sort of make something see thru,but when it rendered it did not appear to let any light thru to what was behind. I was using the Keyshot demo last week,I am sure 3dcoat has the potential to do what that can do.
  7. Not sure what I am supposed to do with the update . I ran the download as I usually do, that went fine. Then I used the migration thingy and that went fine-ish, just lost shortcuts and presets,but I had them saved so just reloaded them.So everything is good.....But I dont get this this thing about a 4.5 folder being created. I dont have this anywhere . Everything is still in a 4 folder. When I was loading, a box popped up asking where to put it...should I have manually typed in 4.5 or was it supposed to be automatic? Beta 19 seems to be working ok ......I just like things to be neat and tidy! Ok think I have found it...is it the folder in Users- Documents? Ok ...move along...nothing to see here.... And Vipera ,that shadow thingy seems ok with me.......but I obviously have no idea what I doing these days......
  8. With regards to power settings, I think motherboards come with their own software for controlling power also. My Asus Mb has software on the disc that came with it. So mine is set to some sort of boost mode when it is under load. So if I have a really heavy model you can certainly hear the fan crank itself up. 3dCoat is not too sluggish on my computer.....its about 7 years old. But maybe I dont push it to much.

  10. I dont know where support address is Andrew ,but I dont think there is anything else to add to what I said. Yes I uninstalled Key, and got the reminder key email sent ,It was the same key as I had. But B12 is ok. A few others seem to have it also.
  11. I have the very latest version. Basically what happens is Start Beta 12 ,as it loads it says "demo" for a second or so, then that disapears when everything is fully loaded. It has always done this so that is normal. Start Beta 17, as it loads it says "demo" for a second or so, then that disapears when everything is fully loaded...then it says "trial".....which to me says you have not paid and will stop working after a bit (30 days or whatever it is) I assume it is just a minor bug,but I have gone back to 12 just to be safe. Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this at all or has something gone awry just with me.
  12. I just installed B17, It says "trial" on the top line? What is going on? I put a sphere in paint mode and still managed to make more than 7 layers ( was that the limited amount for the trial version?) Anyone else get this? Oh ,I guess with the "trial" you get the full amount of levels anyway. But I have a full version...is this going to stop working at some point? edit. Tried uninstalling the serial and redoing it, still said "trial" So I went back to Beta 12 ..."trial" has now disapeared?

  14. Been trying to figure this out all night..... I watched an old video,and the tab was called " Materials" , I do not have this anymore..... So what I am thinking is. that it has been replaced by "PBR Materials"? I managed to bungle through and figure out how to import my image and paint it on. It just seems not as clear as the old way...just a bunch of images to pick from. Can someone confirm this is how it is now,so I can stop looking for the old tab...
  15. Is this not working ...I am pretty sure in the past I could use a coloured stencil and apply its colour? Should there be another tab called something other than "Stencils" I have not done this for a while so I am a bit hazy. I seem to remember a tab with coloured images in it ( including a picture of Andrew I seem to remember)
  16. Thank you digman, that is what was required. I did it one poly at a time ,so its done for today, hopefully I will try and remember for next time. The main lesson I learned today was , If you are zremeshing ...do not have pointy fingernails attached to the hand...keep them separate, and save 2 hours of your life trying to fix them. Zremesher is brilliant,but does not like sticky out bits!.....
  17. Is it possible to delete a ring/loop of polys? It is a bit time consuming tapping each one in turn. At the moment I am deleting polys of the end of fingers so I delete a loop and then ctrl+ delete the leftovers . It would be great to just click a loop to delete it then ctrl delete the chunk at the tip.
  18. Boonta, I have had that problem intermittently for ages on betas previous to 12a, so probably not confined to the latest beta. I found if i shut the program down and re loaded the scene it tended to go away. I am using beta 12 at the moment and it has not happened yet! And colour picker "v" has no probs on Beta 12 for me.

Any way to switch off PBR lighting in the paint room, I can rotate the env map on the horizontal plane and its all very lovely,but sometimes I want to rotate the light underneath and any direction on my model like the way you used to be able to do. Have I missed a button somewhere? Edit: I have found locking the enviro map makes the underneath of my model more view able....wish I could just shine my light at it though.

I just did a really quick rough and ready test Artman, I used the complete Mannequin figure at about 6.5 mill , antibump at 10 dia , frame rate went to about 30 and the brush went slightly jerky. But I found this acceptable for me .Made the brush 3 and it performed fine. My computer is about 7 years old ( dont laugh) Quad core , and an old nvidia card from then. Your hardware sounds like a Hal 9000 compared to mine! Maybe it isnt that? Been lovin' your "trim" tool this week by the way Artman! And 3dCoats been performing great, only a couple of stumbles . I've been doing my biggest ever "build" and I keep expecting it to fall over . But I think I will need to split up the scene when I start doin' the colouring in!

  23. Im windows vista 64, does it non cuda also. edit : Just changed my background gradient to a similar colour, hee hee! Though now it looks like a misty day!
