All environment pieces & level I did for The Burning Descent VR, for RyseUp Studios are here, the game run under Unreal Engine 4. I also helped on other fileds such as VFX art ( a little but super fun moments ! ), ConceptArt, Animation ( rigging & posing only for special purpose ) and Character's textures. I used 3DCoat for mostly everything except for stencils/Brushes creation ( PS ) with custom smartmaterials ( same used on SWR project =) ), ZBrush for all of those canyon rocks ^^ 3dsMax for all Lowpoly's and plenty of highpolys ( mostly when not organic ) MightyBake for baking. Special thanks to Anthony Daneluzzi, Fantin Gislette, Alexandre Cheremetieff, Jonathan Belot, Laurent Dessart, Guillaume Zannoni, Maxime Teppe, Coralie Bruchon, Adrien Chenet, Milen Ivanov, and evryone who helped bringing this game to life ! I really enjoyed working with all of you and I hope we'll keep teaming'up like that in the future =) The Burning Descent is a VR Game made@ RyseUp Studios in Lyon Full project here ( + viewers of each asset and some scene ) : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ryzzm

Hello, I have imported test model from C4D with many poly-objects inside, they all have materials across, let's say each model has general materials such as wood, chrome, black plastic, etc. So I was unwrapping it, it's all good in 3D-Coat, I did unwrap, I saw good UV island, but when I export to C4D, all objects have multiple UV tags, C4D and Unreal Engine doesn't support multiple UV tags for lighting and texturing. How to export so I going to have one solid UV tag not many separated, please help! p.s. would be good to have autro-map for many objects with option not-single-material, because right now it's only doing one UV for multiple-objects, doesn't respect Separate-Materials.

Hi there, I'm new to 3D Coat. Whenever I export OBJs from 3D Coat, they appear to have no (or wrong) smoothing groups in UE4? Help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Robert

Possible bad configuration for normal map for Unreal Engine
ozukaru posted a topic in General 3DCoat
I post this here for visibility instead that the specific forum because I think is important... The default "Normal Map Software Preset" in Preferences is "Unreal Engine" And the default value for "Normal Calculation Method" is "Angle Weighted Normals" That produces this normal map (first image) for a simple box kind of panel. That seems to be ok in UE4 but some artifacts appears when a "build lights" is performed there (I made sure this is totally unrelated to the infamous secondary uv channel need of unreal light-maps) as you can see in the left panel in the third image. If I change the "Normal Calculation Method" to "3D-Coat Normals" then it works perfect! as you can see in the second image and in the third, in the right panel. So I suggest that you 3d-coat developer/staff change that setting ("Normal Map Calculation Method") to default "3D-Coat Normals" if/when the "Normal Map Software Preset" is set to "Unreal Engine" so people like me don't waste time trying to figure out things, please Thanks- 2 replies

I read in the Unreal Engine 4 forums that Andrew is working on something specifically for UE4 to help with fbx format. Does anyone know if this is true? It would be super awesome.
