Member bonito Posted November 6, 2008 Member Report Share Posted November 6, 2008 Hi, I am thinking of using 3D Coat. For rendering I am using Vue 6.x. I want to know if both do work good together, i.e. can I import models made with 3D Coat into Vue without problems.

I rather have 3d-coats new volumetric sculpting could help replace vue lol

Advanced Member Ghostdog Posted November 6, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 6, 2008 Vue should support .Obj and .LWO, thus it should work ok with objects made in 3DC. Vue is semi-ok, BUT no support for normal-mapping I've only had it a short time and haven't figured out if acceptable results can be obtained using Vues bump/displacement mapping. philnolan3d
I have been using Vue 5 and 6 (with XStream for LW) for a couple of years and have never been able to get nice looking texture / bump out of it. I'm sure if Monsoon reads this he'll have something to say about it . :P I rather have 3d-coats new volumetric sculpting could help replace vue lol That sounds nice, but they're completely different things. Like the plant tools, ecosystems, and volumetric skies just to start.
