New Member DKarn Posted March 21, 2016 New Member Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 So been looking and I have not been able to find this kind of tool int he program so far. The idea that I had for this is that you paint a mask on the object with a depth to it that freezes the colored portion in place. That way when you get an area set up just how you want it you can freeze it and work around it without worry of messing it up.
Member Blaster Posted March 21, 2016 Member Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 You can accomplish this by setting your model to surface instead of voxels. Once set you will have access to the freeze tool in the surface tools list.
New Member DKarn Posted March 21, 2016 Author New Member Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 that is cool, though I would like to see something similar in the voxels mode
Member Blaster Posted March 21, 2016 Member Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 Yes I agree. Once you get used to switching between voxels and surface mode you will leverage the total power of 3d coat. Its just about understanding what is possible in each mode and when to use each. I have only been using 3d coat for 3 months now and I am just now getting comfortable with it. Keep at it.
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted March 21, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 that is cool, though I would like to see something similar in the voxels mode The "VoxHide" tool or the faster "Cell" tool are used for that in the Voxel mode. Member Blaster Posted March 22, 2016 Member Report Share Posted March 22, 2016 Wow that awsome Tony! I will test that out tomorrow. I thought the VoxHide tool was just for removing Voxels from your view while you sculpt but that makes total sense that they would essentially freeze in place. This will come in very handy. Thanks! New Member DKarn Posted March 23, 2016 Author New Member Report Share Posted March 23, 2016 yes thank you, also I have been having issue going between the 2 once I switch to surface mode I pretty much have to stay in surface. I assume this is because I could use more RAM
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted March 23, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted March 23, 2016 Yes, because switching back to voxels may require a higher res to capture fine details created in Surface mode (which doesn't need to calculate 'internal' voxels).
