Member Ruud Posted February 20, 2018 Member Report Share Posted February 20, 2018 Hello everyone, Is it possible to change the world axis. I've imported a 3d scanned model but now my Z = up. Thanks, Ruud
Reputable Contributor digman Posted February 20, 2018 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Normally when you import an object into 3DC, it does not change the axis, Like Y becomes Z. If the model was created with Z is up, then the model would import incorrectly concerning the axis if Y is up in 3DC. Got to preferences and change which axis to use for "Up" or swap axis as 3DC calls it. This will cause your imported scanned model to import in-correctly if you change to Y is up. That is if the software used for scanning uses Z as up. Maybe you changed the setting and forgot about it. When I import scanned models (Photoscan) into 3DC, I normally choose Z is up so they import correctly. If I need the scanned model to be oriented on the Y axis (Y is up) then I use an external program for that change, then I import into 3DC. It is a user call though but I rather get the scanned model lined up and any rotations done in an external program, then I import into 3DC.
