philnolan3d Posted December 2, 2009 Report Share Posted December 2, 2009 Well the only options are to use a ridiculously huge image, or many smaller images (1 UV map for each). Seeing as there's a limit to how big images can be in 3DC (determined by your graphics card) the better option seems to be more images but smaller. Taros Posted December 2, 2009 Report Share Posted December 2, 2009 Try to use patterns (repetitive textures) and layers with different texture resolutions for individual areas, like every games engine does. Try to reduce your point of view on places with more and less details. Choose more important areas and give them high resolusion textures, and give less resolution textures to others. Split your object to several parts and give them own texture coordinates. Try to use ambient occlusion layers, to give more structure to the landscape, and so on. A lot of work. Taros Posted December 3, 2009 Report Share Posted December 3, 2009 Version 3 is miles away from version 2. You should upgrade, you will not be disappointed. I don't know, whether the new version will fulfill your expectations, but it offers a lot more possibilities. The best is: Test the new version.
