Andrew Shpagin
I have done the support of import LWO. Please test it and tell if there is some bugs or strange things. The link is below: http://www.mediafire.com/?dxgvmmsgptt Also I have add the change radius with RMB dragging, adding a middle point in curve with interpolated radius (RMB). 16 bit displacement exportr is also there. Member jbshorty Posted October 15, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 15, 2007 Wow. you are fast . i tested all 3 new features (LWO import, 16-bit export, and radius adjustment for spline points). Everything is working good over here. Only problem is now the Pan navigation (Alt+MMB) is not working shorty

Member colkai Posted October 15, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 15, 2007 OK, that's not good, one reason I'm not a fan of "hardware related" keys. I plugged my LW dongle into the PC in a different USB port than normal after instaling the latest Beta to test the LWO file handling. Now, not only do I not see a LWO file open, but my activation key is hosed, I've been dropped down to trial mode and my hardware key has changed. Whilst I can see a major change in hardware might force a reset, I don't understand why a typical windows "oh, you're using a different port" forces it. Now I'm stuck with a key that no longer matches my reg details. Once I get my new key, I will once again try to test it, but I am rather surprised my choice of USB ports should play any part in that. EDIT: ok, found LWO - under OBJ, suggest a more logical file menu, import->sub menu listing available types. Alas, that does not help me with the hardware issue. As I switch mahcines a lot, my dongle and USB modem connect as and where I need them, which can often force windows to re-see the driver. Member 2BitSculptor Posted October 15, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 15, 2007 I loaded a LW9.3 landscape I'm working on - it did not have any UV maps set. It took a while on my machine (gave me a chance to grab a cup of coffee) When it finished loading, the x axis was reversed on the geometry. It was fun painting though! Member colkai Posted October 15, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 15, 2007 Hmm, First LWO I tried, got an error... EDI: attached LWO in ZIP archive DaggerRust.zip

Andrew Shpagin
Thank you! I have understand the bug - it was because the dencity of polygons if extremely different in different parts of mesh. But it it not a problem - I'll fix it. Has someone tried to import LWO with texture?

Chuck my mistake.... it was not the x axis, but the z axis of the object was reversed. I had apparently, instinctively, spun the object around to face what I considered the front before I began inspecting it. When I reloaded the LWO, it was the z axis that was wrong. When I load the OBJ of the same landscape, it comes in correctly. Chuck
Andrew Shpagin
Ok, I will flip it. The best way is to show the same picture in LW and 3D Brush (in initial view, when Home pressed).

Member colkai Posted October 16, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 16, 2007 Ok, That is officially weird! Today I booted my PC but didn't have my USB modem plugged in, my 3D-Brush now accepts my key and isn't in demo mode. The strange part is, the modem driver is there, just not the actual modem. That suggests to me that I can only run 3d-Brush when I don't have my modem connected, or if I got a key to suit, only IF my USB modem is connected. Odd. Also, tried another LWO object and got a crash straight away, does the fact that I am running "only" a Geforce FX5200 make any difference? Or is there some "solid" criteria as to what constitutes a model that 3D-Brush "likes" - that is, tris only, quads, no textures, number of surfaces / parts / uv maps etc.? Andrew Shpagin
In the current version most crasthes during the LWO import are because of triangles density veries too much. But I think I will fix this issue today.
Member colkai Posted October 17, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 17, 2007 That would follow actually as even though the model was not high density, the difference between sections was about 50% in terms of poly density.

Andrew Shpagin
Does standart models looks well on FX5200? It seems to be old enough vcard... I even not sure that it supports Shadres 2.
Member colkai Posted October 18, 2007 Member Report Share Posted October 18, 2007 slow, very slow, but then, to be expected. I may upgrade my gfx card at some point but no doubt that would mean a new key so I'm holding off on that. It does support OGL2.0 with the right drivers as my LW currently reports OGL as 2.1.
