Reputable Contributor digman Posted July 11, 2010 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 I'm working on this 2d painting still at the concept stage,so I thought I throw it out there as a fun Voxel Sculpting challenge for all the community who would like to have a go at it. Just used him has a base and add to him if ya like. If you are looking for something to sculpt it could be fun. "His anatomy and features are still at base stage but good enough for a concept drawing"...
Advanced Member Denis Posted July 11, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 You'd definitely have to turn off symmetry on that old broken nose!
Advanced Member michalis Posted July 11, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 These drawings are getting better and better. You have to brake the idea of a border that divides space to a subject and a background. As you already know there isn't anything like this in art. Lighting creates just shapes in space. The same thing is happening in sculpture too. Do we sculpt a body (anatomically speaking) or shapes that describe the light?
Member IdotT Posted July 11, 2010 Member Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 It's my understading that when sculpting a horse you simply chip away at the bits that don't look like a horse. Who would have known it was that simple.

There is a vast difference between the two. One is mathematical, techical and the other is light and shade creating form... Here is another kind of concept to help simulate the challenge. I hope you guys don't mind me posting these 2D paintings. They help me get more into the creative mood, sometimes sculpting gets a little tedious...
