Member Randy Posted November 26, 2011 Member Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 i am having a hard time beveling the edges of a box. How do you line up the edge evenly so the depth of the place cut evenly along ?
Reputable Contributor digman Posted November 26, 2011 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 Posted Today, 11:50 AM It's a little tricky using the plane tool. Be sure you are in Orthographic mode. Keyboard shortcut is the "5" key on the keyboard numerical pad. You have to line up just right to get that even cut but orthograhpic mode helps with using the keys on the keyboard to change the axis. You can also use the cut-off tool (under the blob brush) to create bevels. Use the e-panel tool "irregular shape lasso" for your bevel cutter. Again be in Orthographic mode and use the keyboard numerical pad to change the axis. Your axis will line up perfectly using the keys. Example: You can say have symmetry turned on for the z axis so the cut in made on the opposite side also (this applies if you have a symmetrical object.) Then switch to the Y symmetry. Now under the main Voxels menu (Top row) choose (symm copy). The bevels will be copied to the bottom of your object. The above is given just to give you an idea of how to create bevels with the cut-off tool. There are a few other ways but this will get you started. In the picture the edges are a litte rough because I just used a low voxel count cube.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted November 26, 2011 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 You can also use the closed spline e-panel tool to create rounded bevels with the cut-off tool.
