  1. Sent an email to Andrew. Hope he reads it as I have included a short video showing the problems happening. Mike
  2. I have deleted all prefs and basically started again with a new install of 3.7. Exactly the same issue. Mike
  3. I had stopped using 3dcoat because of this issue. I tried the final version of 3dcoat 3.7 today and these issues still exist????? Once again will this issue be fixed? I never had issues before now 3d coat is unusable. Mike
  4. Stranger still this version does work for me on Osx. Very fast. Of course I still have the issue with the viewport overlaying everything after trying to save and flickering away as well as the white out rendering room. Some things like cut etc in surface mode don't work with symmetry. Mike
  5. ANy news on the issues I am having? Updated to version 3.5.25 today with the same issues still there. By the way the render bit only seems to happen on some models. I noticed today I had a red non uniform error message or something on the taskbar. How do i sort that? The saving stopping me continuing to work until I kill 3dcoat and restart is a more worry issue for me at the moment though. Mike
  6. Stupid stupid system not allowing me to re-edit again my previous post. I wanted to add my basic system specs. I have an older imac with a core 2 duo 2.8ghz extreme chip and 4gb ram. The gfx card is an ATI 2600 pro. Mike
  7. On my machine it is the entire 3d coat window that goes crazy after sculpting and then saving a file. I should make a quick video showing what happens to make it clear. Here are a couple of screen shots showing what I see. Bit much to do video. You can see that the main 3dcoat window is covering the menu that I pulled up to save. Its actually flickering between that screen shot then being clear but it is unresponsive. The other shot is the white model I see in the render room. Mike
  8. Michalis, I think thats the issue for me then. Osx Lion is a joke of a system at the moment. Glitches in many graphics apps. 3dCoat allows me to save objects but I must force quit 3dcoat after doing a save as the screen glitches and flickers as well as the render problem I said above. I hate having to contact Andrew all the time with issues that I am coming across and wish I could figure out a way to report any issues I come across without constantly bothering him. The mantis report thing would never let me in so i gave up on that. Might give it a try again today. Cheers Mike
  9. I can see a use for that as well. On another note, I have zero idea how that render on the last page was done in 3d coat. No matter what I do on osx all I get is a white shape. Mike
  10. I too am getting graphical issues in 3d coat on Lion. Whenever I save a file or export something the screen flickers badly and I can no longer click on anything within 3d coat and have to force close 3dcoat. It saves the file no problem. Mike
  11. It may be voxel based but that is it. Its faster than natively using voxels at least on my machine. This dynamesh is fantastic but there is always one thing that zbrush does not have that 3d coat does that I would really love to see. Proper widgets to manipulate meshes around. The transpose tools are fantastic for posing but get in my nerves for moving things around. I'm guessing native widgets would not be possible as all movement seems to be screen place based. I disagree with dynamesh not being that special. It is simply stunning and fast to work with. Its nothing like remeshing as it happens instantly without rigmarole. I can now make hard edged models in zbrush but still not as easily as 3dcoat for the base. Of course as I have said before I would use 3d coat for retopology every time although sometimes I get stuck wondering which mesh is which in the list that shows up in 3dcoat when retopoing a model. Long live both apps is what I say for very different reasons. I cant live without my zbrush for pure illustration and I cannot live without 3dcoat when I want to take things further. Cheers Mike R
  12. If moi works as well as messiah studio under wine or crossover or whatever then it will be worth missing. Glitchy mess messiah is. Although I believe at least the guy from Moi is a bit better than the messiah guys at bothering about their customers. I would LOVE moi to be on osx properly. I would be first in line fighting with the others who also want to be first to get their hands on it. I loved it in my pc days. Mike
  13. OpenGL is now v 3.2 or whatever it is in Lion. It is a little bit more than a flashy overcoat to Lion but most features are meh. It feels smoother to me and so far had no issues with 3dcoat. Mike
  14. A little out of topic: Trying to capture-reproject hi detailed sculptris mesh on a retopo cage. I'm facing a serious problem with the badly trialgulated (dynamic tessellation) effect. Displacement maps seem to capture these triangles. Of course it's easy to smooth first in zbrush but this means to resculpt all these fine details. So, why sculptris-dynamic tessellation-UC etc? it's a good question I think. Being a mac user here I have not played with sculptris yet but I would hope they would have that kind of issue in mind. Cheers Mike R
  15. Out of curiosity, what can ZBrush do what 3D-Coat can't? Dangerous question. I own both and use both for different things. For actual sculpting and texturing I prefer zbrush as it feels more controllable for detailing to me but for base meshes initial sculpting and retopology I prefer 3dcoat. (I also prefer 3dcoat for hardsurface sculpting.) Of course with the newer 64bit version of 3dcoat things may get better with enough ram but for me 4gb in zbrush allows me to subdivide to much higher resolutions than 3d coat does. So its much and such between them. I cant live without either of them. Cheers Mike R
  16. Personally I would prefer a more icon based interface. I own lightwave and never got on with it purely because of the wordy text interface. If I want to read a book I will read a book is my thought on that matter. All the other 3d and 2d apps I use from Modo to Carrara to Photoshop etc all use icons and they just work with my brain. Of course all of this relies on being able to accurately describe what a button is for in a graphics interface as I am finding with my games development. I use graphics to describe a situation rather than text as gamers generally will avoid the text unless they get stuck. Anyway, whatever at the end of the day. It is what it is and I use 3dCoat when I need it. Cheers Mike R
  17. I just updated to osx 10.6.7 and the freezing issues I had when resizing the 3d coat window is gone. (I was having issues with messiah as well that would badly hang my computer and that is also fixed. Cheers Mike R
  18. Thinking about it you are probably right. I just remembered recently there being talk of beta versions and what to do with them. I have no idea where that went so had wondered if missed something. Cheers Mike R
  19. So I will ask again in case my last post was somehow invisible. Have I missed something regarding Mac builds? Is it now a pc version completed first then when the bugs have been ironed out then a mac build is done? As you can never tell from a forum post exactly what my demeanor is I will state I am happy and in no way grumpy. Just wanted to know if I missed a message as windows and linux version have been updated but no mac version. Cheers Mike R
  20. The main issues I have seen and stopped me using 3dCoat temporarily was the resize window causing a hang of osx. Waiting for either Apple to sort out the driver issues that I believe are the main cause of this problem or the build of 3dcoat that is based on some experimental thing posted recently to the forums. That worked fine. Cheers Mike R
  21. I may have missed some information regarding the Mac version but I had a look and its not been updated to .14a or does it already have these fixes in .14. My time has been taken up elsewhere recently so I have not had a chance to keep up on the latest news etc. Cheers Mike R
  22. It may be ati in general but there are issues with apples ati drivers. I am not impressed with Apple support at all and I am not aware of anyone I personally know who is impressed. The main reason is from day 1 problems they can't solve I have solved myself. The same applies to all the other folks I know personally. The stock answer is reformat and recover from a backup for many issues. I left that kind of support behind in the dark ages on windows. lol. There should NEVER be a reason to have to flatten your system and start again. Its just the easy answer from a help desk with people who have no clue. When I was the manager of a number of support teams in the medical field, if anyone had told a customer to flatten the system and restore from a backup they would have been blasted by me. All problems are solvable if you take the time and think logically. Anyway that's my anti apple rant over. I don't subscribe to the apple are the best stuff that some do but I will not go back to windows unless they have an operating system as good in general as OSx. If microsoft started from scratch and ignored backward compatibility I believe they could slaughter apple with a stunning os. Until then OSx is the best in most ways out there but the drivers currently are wrecked. Probably when they tried to get them tweaked for gaming with help from the steam folks etc. Cheers Mike R
  23. From a bit of research these freezing problems in general are caused by terrible at graphics card drivers made by apple. Some apps are more sensitive than others to it. ( I now have three apps that I can regularly freeze things in.) No idea if apple are bothered enough to fix the issue as they are so secretive they wont even admit a problem. By the way if you have had to shut your machine down using the power button make sure the first thing you do after is check the hard drive for errors. (Not permissions). Each time I get a hang I have to repair my hard drive. The hard drive has been replaced recently and has no other issues. It only needs repairing after forcing the machine to shutdown due to a hang. Get onto the feedback thing on apple website and blast them as I have done. Apparently they broke it all after 10.6.2 with the ati drivers. Cheers Mike R
  24. I can resize the window no problems with that. Take a fraction of a second to resize the contents of the window but other than that no crashes. @ifxs - I dont run anything like that and have now gone as far as to stop using expose assigned to a screen corner. Cheers Mike R
  25. I assume this is related to my issue as well. So add my name to the osX list. Cheers Mike R
