  1. Please ignore/delete the post. I solved this by exporting from Blender with a higher colour depth.
  2. I am having an issue with an imported UV map. Wondering if anyone could help me...? I created the normal map in Blender, and I am trying to import both the model and the normal map into 3D Coat for texture painting. As you can see from the screenshots, it looks very wrong. Something to do with the seams. I've tried FBX and OBJ. I've tried importing with and without flipping the Green channel (which is usually the problem), but no resolution. I am stumped. I am suspicious that it might be the alpha background to the normal map that is upsetting 3D Coat. Unfortunately, Blender seems entirely unwilling to bake without this transparent background (I am using the "bake from multires" function, which has no options at all!). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Version 4.9.69 works out of the box on Manjaro. This is great! I did see this error in the console: Gtk-Message: Failed to load module “xapp-gtk3-module” But was able to resolve it by following this: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/failed-to-load-module-xapp-gtk3-module/46039 That said, the error didn't seem to stop 3D Coat running in any event.
  4. 100% agree. I have never understood the "rules" by which attaching a material to a layer is supposed to work. However it is supposed to work, it seems inconsistent and buggy as hell.
  5. This bug is still happening on version 4.9.17. Adjusting lighting is not working for the GL version.
  6. Here is a video showing the issue. If it makes any difference, I am using 3D Coat on Linux via Wine, but it sounds like it could be a general issue.
  7. Cool. Will you report? Or should I email the support address to notify Pilgway?
  8. Right, I have isolated the problem. This is an issue for me with the GL version of 3D Coat only. If I use the DX version, it works as expected. Unfortunately, I can only use the GL version on my laptop. The DX version crashes for some reason. On my desktop, I can run both versions OK, and can now see where the problem lies. I am using the Windows version of 3D Coat on Linux via Wine.
  9. I have just realised that I should have posted this in this thread.
  10. That button works as the tooltip describes. The contrast is maximised, and the position of the environment map is locked. That doesn't change the issue regarding light intensity, however. I will try and record a video showing the problem later today.
  11. Hi My changes to the code are very minimal. If the version that ships with Blender works in languages other than English, then this modified version should also work in languages other than English. Nothing that I have done should make any difference to this issue. I have not tested it in any other languages.
  12. When I adjust the light intensity with this control, it doesn't seem to affect the mesh. I can see that it affects the background, but the lighting on the mesh remains the same intensity. What am I doing wrong?
  13. I am also getting increasing pessimistic about seeing a native Linux build again. It has been an extremely long time. If I was Pilgway, I would be a bit uncomfortable about continuing to advertise and sell Linux licences. Having a native Linux version was a big selling point of 3D Coat for me. Admittedly, for reasons I won't go into, I actually purchased a Windows licence first. As it happens, this has worked out well for me, as I can use 3D Coat on Wine (more or less), but I would be pretty annoyed if I hadn't. I always intended (and still do intend) to purchase a Linux licence for 3D Coat. It kind of annoys me that you have to pay an additional $40 just to add another OS but, nevertheless, I was on the cusp of doing this right when the Linux builds were stopped. I therefore held off, and have held off ever since... I don't think Pilgway should underestimate the appeal of having a native Linux version. I am only a lowly hobbyist, but the Linux version what drew me in. In terms of sculpting, Zbrush and Mudbox aren't really an option for Linux users. In terms of painting, there is Substance Painter, but it is a pain to get running on anything other than CentOS, and I don't think it is as rich in features as 3D Coat. 3D Coat runs OK via Wine, but it will never be the ideal.
  14. I am a Linux user. Like a lot of other people on the forums, I am eagerly (and increasingly impatiently....) awaiting the native Linux builds of 3D Coat to resume. It seems like it has been a really long time now.... In the meantime, I have been running that latest version of 3D Coat via Wine. This isn't ideal, but it works.... OK. One of the big problems I had is that the Blender 2.8 3D Coat Applink add-on (that comes with Blender itself) does not work when 3D Coat is running via Wine. This annoyed me, so I have modified the script to work with 3D Coat via Wine. If any of my fellow Blender/3DCoat/Linux users would also like to use this, please find attached. I assume you will know how to install it but, if not, let me know. Here's hoping that actual Linux builds resume soon. io_coat3D(Wine).zip
  15. Any news on when the native Linux builds will resume? Running on Wine is OK, but almost always ends up in some kind of crash for me. Also the Blender to 3D Coat exporter doesn't work properly.
  16. Hi Running 3D Coat on Linux (Ubuntu) at a 4k resolution. Is there any way around the tiny interface problem 3D Coat seems to have? I have been looking for a while for some kind of option to scale up the interface but couldn't see anything. Font size is already set to maximum.
  17. Yes I know, that's exactly what I am doing. I have set hotkeys in previous versions of 3D Coat, lots of times. I know how it is supposed to work. It is not working for me for anything in the [Camera] menu.
  18. I am unable to change keyboard shortcuts in either version 4.8.10 or 4.8.09. I hover over the menu item, press "END" like instructed, but then after pressing the new key combination it just goes blank as if I pressed escape. Tried deleting my 3D-CoatV48 folder. No effect (shortcuts are reset to default, but still cannot change any) Anyone else?
  19. Doesn't seem to make any difference for me. The only way to get a non-smoothed result seems to still be the method suggested by @Fluffy (i.e. baking from the paint room menu option rather than from the retopo room). This seems incoherent as the option in the paint room uses the paint object as a retopo mesh. The differing results would seem to be a bug?
  20. @AbnRanger Yep - you are right. My mistake. I thought zBrush Core was subscription, but it isn't.
