  1. Hell Yeah! I am re-doing Deaths Head II as mentioned in the last thread. He is a cool, cyborg killing machine from a long forgotten Marvel UK comic called OverKill (circa 1990's) which I used to read as a young teenager. He kicked Wolverines ass once in an alternate reality which was decimated by a mega demon called Charnel... Here's one I made back in 2008! http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/threads/4139-Comicon-Challenge-Marc-Wakefield-Deaths-Head-II?s=f4f84f3053ab50ff022bb3c18e6f32eb This one will be infinitely better though. Did I mention that he KICKED Wolverines ASS!?
  2. I like this! I did a model of a long forgotten Marvel character called Deaths Head II (From a Marvel UK Comic similar to 2000AD called OverKill - 1990's) a few years ago (2008) for a GameArtisans Comicon Challenge. This was when I was first getting in to 3D Sculpting and 3D Coat didn't have voxels. I modeled the character in Wings3D and brought him in to 3D Coat for texturing. I didn't do him justice as my anatomy skills were not great, I was a noob at humanoid modelling and I was using a severely underpowered Acer Laptop with hardly any Ram. http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/threads/4139-Comicon-Challenge-Marc-Wakefield-Deaths-Head-II?s=f4f84f3053ab50ff022bb3c18e6f32eb I am going to re-do him for this challenge. The time frame is brilliant (even for an overworked, easily distracted procrastinator like me), My 3D sculpting skills and understanding of muscular anatomy has gone up several levels since 2008. I am a little scared of the no symmetry rule but he is pretty asymmetric anyway so it shouldn't be too bad. GAME ON!
  3. Sounds cool to me. Watching agents of Shield with a slightly naggy 6 month old right now and feeling the Marvel vibe. Let's see what Beat says.
  4. Well done Beat! A very well deserved win. I would be up for doing a likeness with no symmetry allowed. Always good to push ourselves.
  5. Just wanted to swing by and say well done to you all. Once again, I didn't finish but I have created an interesting character which I will continue in another thread. I don't envy your Job though Ebitz. There were so many good entries. Some people progressed really well throughout the challenge and showed loads of awesome WIP shots. I think BeatKitano has to be a front runner though. Such a well executed and detailed sculpt with more WIP than you can shake a stick (or E.T's abnormally long finger) at. The next challenge host just has to do a Halloween theme. Pretty please. I promise to finish this time. ;-)
  6. I hope not... I thought we had until the 25th. What do you say ebitz?
  7. Thanks Beat. I will need it. Its so easy to forget how hard creating beauty is. I will do my best to make her pretty but she may end up pretty ugly! ;-) Yours is looking so awesome by the way. He (if it is a he) reminds me of one of Ja ja Binks kinsmen but way cooler. I like the use of colour and mix of flesh and exoskeleton. I imagine he would taste pretty crabby if I tried to eat him.....
  8. Here's my initial sculpt of my female alien. I have a whole back story for her which I will add a bit later. Loads to do and sailing close to the wind as usual.
  9. I am not sure how I feel about this yet.... It is cool and I am glad 3D Scanning / Printing is coming to the masses. I think it is a bit too cheap though. A lot of post work will go in to the mesh clean-up and then you have handling, shipping, etc... I have my scanner and printer coming next year and was hoping to charge more than this. Of course ASDA will not be sculpting additional details and turning people in to Centaurs, Barbarians, etc and I doubt they will turn the output in to retoppoed, animated avatars for games, interactive web 3D and personalized games. In fact, they probably will not even give the customer the digital file. So we are probably safe.... ... for now. ;-)
  10. The product is awesome though! Much better results on anything else I have tried. The photos I fed it were not great either.
  11. Cool, I am going to give this a try right now. I absolutely hate the 1990's shopping channel music and the presenters trans-Atlantic infomercial voice though. You would think AutoDesk would make cooler, up to date presentations.
  12. Looking good gbball! I haven't thought about recording the sculpt but its a good idea. I so want to get started but have so much work on, A 5 month old who doesn't like sleep anymore and a vomiting 2 and half year old. Tonight will be the night!
  13. I am currently backing the Zeepro Zim on Kickstarter. It has dual heads for printing multiple colours or one colour and a PVA support for ambitious gravity defying prints, an insane printing resolution compared to anything else out there (50 microns per layer) and will only cost me $750 (£462 in my money) I will have to wait until March next year for it but I think the wait will be worth it. You can even get a cheaper version with one head. I have been umm-ing and ahh-ing about buying a 3D Printer for ages. Nearly went with something more expensive and nearly went with something much cheaper but in the end the Zim has my money. I recommend taking a look before pulling the trigger: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1410146982/zim-the-first-dual-head-personal-3d-printer-fully
  14. Wow, That is good! It isn't a bad res and does look pretty usable. I would love to get those kind of results but it isn't happening. What are the exact steps you went through for this model and how many pictures did you need to take? Cheers,
  15. Wow, This looks awesome! Paint Supreme doesn't look bad either. My brother is an Interior Designer and may find the text to model feature very, very interesting.
  16. Nice work guys and girls! I will have to get cracking on this soon. I have a few ideas and am finally settled on a theme. I am going to go for beauty. I am going to try to create a gorgeous, supermodel style alien with highly accentuated female features. I love yours Beat! Wouldn't want to kiss him / her though.
  17. I sculpted a quick bat wing to test it on and made it as thin as I could get it so I could give it a bit of grief. The higher polygon count version looked OK with very few errors. The low poly version was a mess. I am sure Andrew will get it all working perfectly though, I have faith.
  18. Hi Spacepainter, I have also tried Agisoft Photo Scan and was quite impressed with the results. Not amazed though. Can you show some on sketchfab or give a few pointers? Neitra 3D appears to remove some of the guess work and waiting around by the looks of it. I can not tell you for sure until I have a copy but will let you know as soon as I do. I will hopefully be able to report back in the next few days....
  19. That is nice. I have tried a few tests in 3DC with purposefully thin surfaces and am getting welding of vertices and holes. Any Ideas? Cheers, Marc
  20. Agisoft is pretty cool but I think Neitra 3D looks like it may give it a run for its money. Infinite Reality's work using Agisoft is mind blowing.
  21. http://www.triayaam.com/index.php/neitra-3d-pro/ The developer is really nice and their software looks awesome! They will be offering a 15 day full featured trial when they launch. Follow @TriAyaam on Twitter for details.
  22. Good Question. Mason has just added a 'grey' to the 3D Coat Gallery by the way.
  23. Sweet! I cant wait to get started on this one! I will make sure I finish this time though.
  24. Just a quick grab of a hardsurface autopo test with the new tools.... No additional tweaking or guides. Just checked the hardsurface box.
