  1. Hi, When I use the Pose tool in Normal Extrude mode on a Voxel layer, it behaves oddly: When I exit the Pose tool and press Enter to revoxelize, then activate the Pose tool again, it works as expected: @Silas Merlin told me that it is probably due to having used a Surface-type tool (Clay / Draw) right before initiating the Pose tool, but that should have been fixed in the latest 3DC 2021 version(s). There should be auto-revoxelization before and/or after using the Pose tool.

Here's a little Krampus progress collage, starting with the great concept artwork by Maxim Verehin, sculpting in 3D Coat and ending with the Blender Cycles rendering. #krampus #monster #creepy #horror #fantasy #3d #b3d #3dcoat #character #illustration

  4. I've also recently upgraded. Love the latest additions.
  5. Thanks a lot for your help, @Yousung, much appreciated!
  6. Trying out live subdivision, and after activating symmetry and extruding, the symmetry is not present in the subdivided result. How come? And another question, sorry: The Expand brush comes closest to the Inflate brush in Blender / ZBrush, or not? In that case, Control + brushing doesn't deflate. Is there a separate brush or mode for that? I found that performing a Smooth All on a layer also deflates a little, but it'd be great if you could deflate on a brush level. ─ Edit: Control + Fill seems to work for deflating thin, low-polygon geometry. I would love to see Control + Expand offering a real deflate effect though.
  7. In this video you can see a live-subdivided version of the also visible low-poly cage. How do you activate that mode? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUWNIcmSlGM
  8. Yes, I agree! That would lower the threshold for users coming from other software.
  9. Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. I've just been discovering the curve editor. Nice!
  10. Thanks @Yousung! I meant the Curves tool with the red spheres. In the example below I've started adding curve points from the bottom to the top, but the next point is always drawn from the last placed point. How do I indicate that I'd like to smoothly continue building the spline from the bottom point?
  11. Nice, but how do you activate Live Smooth, so that you can keep manipulating the low-poly mesh and see the Live Smooth result in realtime, like in the video?
  12. Thanks. The closest equivalent would be using a curve to guide the stroke, but that's more cumbersome than a 'repeat stroke' tool. I'm still much enjoying my 3DC rediscovery journey, viewing lots of interesting video tutorials. One new question: Once you're creating a curve with the Curves tool, is it possible to change the outer end red sphere from which the curve will smoothly continue? In other words: how do I smoothly continue building a curve from the start sphere, in stead of the end sphere? I hope I'm clear enough.

  14. As I can't seem to post a topic in the Feature Requests section, I hope you won't mind me posting it here. I would LOVE to see an infinite depth option for the Move tool, causing you to use the Move tool with infinite influence in the screen depth direction. This is great for manipulating object silhouettes, among other uses. Many thanks in advance for considering this.

  16. Thanks for your answers! I've tried changing this in the 'options_hotkeys.xml' file: But the new key assignment didn't work, and the Enter key didn't work anymore either, maybe because the new shortcut was already assigned?
  17. Thanks for your replies guys! A few more questions: 8. Can I activate an option somewhere to have the camera rotate around the last brushed point? 9. Can I reassign the Enter key (re-voxelize) to a different key? Thanks!
  18. I'd also be interested in your brushes, @Rygaard.
  19. I've started a thread about my rediscovery of 3D-Coat over at the Blender Artists forum. I hope it will attract more Blender and ZBrush users looking for an alternative or companion DCC.
  20. ─ Minor update on November 13, 2023. I'm trying to make a list of sculpting brush analogies between brushes in Blender (and sometimes ZBrush) and 3D-Coat. I hope I'm heading in the right direction. I've tried to mostly stick to brushes that can be used in both Voxel and Surface mode. Because nearly all of these brushes are Surface-type brushes, don't forget to press Enter every once in a while when working in Voxel layers, to revoxelize and equally redistribute polygons. Any corrections and/or additions are much welcomed, thanks in advance. Blender (or ZBrush) ─ 3D Coat (Clay / Draw type) Blob ─ Sphere (Voxel mode only) Clay ─ Surface: Buildup Voxel: Voxel Buildup Clay Buildup ─ Surface: Clay, or Buildup with flat alpha Voxel: Base Clay or Vox Clay Crease (Dam Standard) ─ Pinch Displace (respects underlying surface) ─ Surface: Extrude Voxel: Extruder (Clay Engine) Fill ─ Surface: Fill Voxel: Voxel Tools ➔ Fill Flatten (hPolish) ─ Trim Adaptive Grab ─ Move Inflate ─ Inflate Layer ─ Absolute (respects underlying surface) Mask ─ Freeze Nudge ─ Surface: Shift Voxel: Smudge Pinch ─ Surface: Pinch with zero or low strength Voxel: Tools ➔ Pinch (auto-remeshes!) Note: When using Roof Pinch, increase Tool Options ➔ Angulator ➔ Degree value for more effect. Pose ─ Pose Scrape (Trim Adaptive) ─ Surface: Flatten Voxel: Scrape Sculpt Draw ─ Draw Note: Because nearly all of these brushes are Surface-type brushes, don't forget to press Enter every once in a while when working in Voxel layers, to revoxelize and equally redistribute polygons.
  21. That's great, thanks. I've asked my questions over there. Which Discord channel is preferred, the official one?
