  1. I have been away for a while and have a question. My display card is an ATI X800 all in wonder, so which version of 3.0 should I use and what is the advantage of the cuda for nvida?
  2. Andrew You must ask for what you feel the market will bear. I think I paid like $89.00 (but I honestly do not remember the purchase price) for 3D Coat before it was 3D Coat. When version 3 is completed I will look at the upgrade price and see if I wish to purchase it. Anyway to give you some input. I use a video editing software called Video Studio by Ulead (Coral) Anyway the original cost was about $99.00 for version 11 they did a 11.5 version at no charge, however version 12 just came out this week and the upgrade cost was $59.00. Hope this helps BTW you can check out their website to make sure I made no errors in the price.
  3. Andrew; The tree generator is very cool. When I have time to study it a bit more. Off hand I did not see a way to rotate and move it. I did purchase a tree generator a while back and it was a bit expensive, wish I had known about your generator. I know 3D Coat is your and our primary program, but completing this may be another source of income. Thank You, you are the man Chuck
  4. Not to put the cart before the horse, but I thought I read someplace in the forums something about a hair/fur texture being added in 2.09. I could be wrong about this however. It would be a nice addition though. I would like to see the default wolf creature with fur.
  5. The ideal tutorial would show how each tool is used including a sample or two of an object with the tool applied. Some good sample layouts can be viewed at VTC.
  6. Andrew; I would say to move forward, coat is fine. I am as about US as you can get (Arizona). I understand the word coat and for those who do not check this out. http://encarta.msn.com/thesaurus_/coat.html The new Lightwave 9.5 beta will be out shortly and it would be nice to have you latest version to interact with, to make sure there are no problems.
  7. I noticed the word layes at the top of your new web page. was that word meant to be layers?
  8. Your logic is like apples and oranges. To have a product and apply a name to that product one must apply sound logic. That being said no company on earth is going to spend a lot of time renaming a already successful product. There is no way you are going to get a large group of people to agree on one name, that is the main point. As for barf on a plate that may at least describe the type of business. How about Yahoo or Mozilla would you know they were search engines just by the name if you weren't already aware that they were? Or better yet how about Lightwave or Maya(3D programs) or Maestro(rigging plug in). As for me I have faith that Andrew will come up with a useful name, even if it is a name I would have not named it, I promise not to ask for my money back or stop using the software because of the name.
  9. Andrew I agree with some of the other viewers, you created the program, you should pick a name you like and move forward. The program is great and getting better. Poeple who want to buy the program will do so because of all the great features not the name. So lets move forward and see what else you cook up. Thanks Chuck
  10. Mike I am not saying Andrew should do a liquid program and/or plug in, I said if he did do a liquid PI I would be the first in line to give it a go. The fact is he is a very good programmer in c++ and I have no doubt if he decided to create something for liquid I am sure he could accomplish it. He is committed to 3d brush at this time, which makes me very happy but in the future he could work on different things to increase his income.
  11. I saw that today on their website. Do you think they or Andrew could come up a lightwave plug in that could replace real flow 4? Real flow has always been way overpriced. Andrew, maybe move hair to the back burner for lightwave and move a water for lightwave and other 3d apps. plug in to the front burner. I'll send $150.00 tomorrow for a beta easy to use version of liquid. Chuck

Andrew As I have stated I am far from an expert on Lightwave, however I can tell you that one can create 2 points, select them and press create polygon and Lightwave will create a polygon line between the two points that can be colored and that line will render in Layout. I hope this helps and if there is any other tests you would like me to try just ask. Thanks Chuck
  13. Mike I use Lightwave and the plug in for hair is difficult to use and does not do the job well. As far as why Andrew wants to include hair/fur I assume it is because he wishes to have a complete detailing package. I am sure if anyone can come up with a decent hair/fur tool, Andrew can and will. I also agree the XSI plug in looks good but since I use Lightwave and I did not see that the plug in would work for Lightwave I cannot comment on how good it really is.
  14. I remember seeing some instructions about creating hair. Could someone point me to it? Also I see that Andrew has said he planned to do more with hair and fur, does anyone know about that?
  15. I did a quick object (Giant Squid) in Lightwave so I could learn more about 3D Brushes Tools. I am still working to get the proper import settings to get a smooth object from Lightwave, any input would be helpful.
  16. Andrew There is nothing wrong with Metrics in fact it is used in most country's. However, I am 62 years old and have been using US standards all my life and I am too old to change to Metrics now. I guess that is why Lightwave offers both systems. There is no great need for any measurement standards in general. Where it would be used most is with the Sculpt tools especially if you plan to expand those tools.
  17. Andrew Oops, Works fine when one opens an object. However what is the grid size? I was hoping to get a default measurement setting by now. Like Lightwave has, either metric or US English (feet, inches, etc.) Also I noticed when one closes the program it no longer asks if you want to exit without saving the object.
  18. Andrew: I went to the download site, however the 2.06 is a demo only and it overwrote my 2.05 version and I can no longer do exports, etc.
  19. Andrew; You are doing such a good job that I hate to nag. I did not give a very good explanation of what I would have liked when I ask for English (US) measurement standards. What I really wanted was like Lightwave's options, where I could select the type of measurement standards I wish to use as the program's default standards, either English (US) Feet, inches, etc. or Metric. That would allow anything I build in 3D Brush to match my exported work to Lightwave. No real big deal, just a matter of convenience. Thanks
  20. Andrew At some point could someone do a step by step tutorial based on your features page? Start with the first object each month and go down the list. I bought your software, but I only bought Lightwave 8 Months ago, so I am a newbie to both programs even though I am an old guy (62). someone at your location created those features, so a step by step tutorial based on how they created them would be a big help as well as a very good selling point for your software. Do the tutorial as if you were teaching your 10 year old child. When you get to my age that is about as quick as I can learn new things. Thanks Chuck
  21. Andrew; You have a great point. Sometimes we tend to forget ours is not the only country in this world (sorry). I also realize the metric system is the most widely used system except in the US. Anyway the only reason for the request is that it would allow me to match Lightwave which I have set to English (US) system. Instead of providing all the calculations the best way is if I sent you the link to the conversion software(free) I use and see if that would solve the problem. http://joshmadison.com/software/convert/download.php Thanks, Chuck
  22. Now that you have added a measurement tool in 2.05 beta 1, could you add a check box in the options area to select between metric and USA standards( feet, inches, etc.)
  23. There is no special project. I am just trying to see how I could use 3D Brush for short cuts. For example the two ball photos. I know in lightwave the first ball would be the base and the second ball with the recessed texture would be the morphed object if done in lightwave. My real question is if I imported the first ball into 3db from lightwave and applyed the recessed texture as shown on the second ball and exported the ball back to lightwave, is there a way to have the second ball be the morphed object in lightwave?

I would like to suggest those of you who know this program well may wish to contact VTC (type into Yahoo) and do a video tutorial session, I think they pay for them and it would be a great help to those of us who have purchased 3db and would like to learn it quicker. I have purchased video tutorials from them and would do so for one for 3db.
