  1. A cool new tool http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/11/12/adaptive-decimate-or-smart-deciate-tool/
  2. New tool guys http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/11/12/adaptive-decimate-or-smart-deciate-tool/
  3. Hi guys These days I've been very busy solving and fixing bugs so no basically new feature but lot of underground stuffs anyway that is good too, LC is getting feature complete (except a nice remaining one that will be tackled soon after getting stable enough: meshmixing capabilities )
  4. Hi BeatKitano The mesh explosion is solved now we have implemented a new command called LegacyFix (or Weld, Andrew will choose ) that basically heal any corrupted information in LC so it make it ready , I'll make a video soon on how to use it, hope it helps! using the same test model you sent us: Without fix After fix: now is fully usable
  5. Perhaps pre LC saved surface models has no consistent data structure when loaded into a recent build and that may cause those corruption issues.....
  6. Hi guys Thanks to everyone, I'm taking note of all the issues/suggestions/requests you made and I'm evaluating them, but most of them will have to wait a bit untill LC get out of the beta stage, after that I can focus on Usability, ergonomics and GUI issues, firts I need to solve the internal functionality and we are working very hard to make a seamless glue between LC and the pre existent 3DCoat tools. A quick news: http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/11/03/removeintersections-command/ A command that can be useful in self intersections use cases. Cheers
  7. Is a nature's law and completely normal, in fact big players are a bit late to the party but they have the resources on their back to allow entering late into the party is like the SDS revolution not long ago vs NURBS or the rendering revolution more recently, it only proves that Dynamic Subdivision sculpting was a safe bet for the future cheers
  8. Many thanks to artist when you show your artwork is a big pushing toward motivation for us! LiveClay has no issue for fine detailing, in fact it was it's main reason to be Yes, there are tools that will always be tied to the voxel technology and are unique on his own, I like voxels as much as I like polygons, both have advantages and disadvantages (in voxels you have the great toothbrush, muscle, etc) I think the main strength of 3DC is to combine the best of both worlds: Surface (Polygons) and Voxels in a way that the competence is trying to get there now :P what I agree is on perform a more unifying process in the surface mode itself and eventually we will get there and RemoveStretching is the first step toward that, is a pure LC feature that has being hooked into pre-existing tools, in a similar way more LC features can be fused with them Cheers
  9. New nice update guys http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6634 still some bugs but we all know development is an endless progress :P
  10. @3dioot You take my previous sentence too literally, of course you have summarized what happens in the development of new tools but functionality-wise I never remove a tried-and-true good old feature for a new one, even when the new one use-cases completely overlap the old one, so don't fear the old Move behavior will be lost, in this case you should have wait for the tool to be out to emit your personal review of it. I try my best to understand your point but now the baffled is me, Sculptris Grab tool is not the same as the MOVE tool, it may seems so but internally is more similar to the Snake tool which by the way, can get the same results (play a bit with the settings) and our current Snake implementation have some great advances there (wait for a new update) So you may be looking for the same behavior into our Move tool, you won't find it there, look into Snake for that so this statement: should be rather the oposit since our Snake tool is more advanced than sculptris grab. :P Slider detail zero in LC halt all dynamic subdivision. Slider smooth zero in LC halt all smoothing processing. Any drop list parameter set to None will halt the corresponding processing. Sculptris is a great app, awesome I may add and I can use it for inspiration, but I'm not trying/want to replicate or copy it into 3DCoat, and if you stress test it you can find many flags and limitations too. this statement shows me that you didn't understand the point, when I was a user of any 3D app out there I thought the same, but sadly is the kind of knowledge that only can come from experience: the time spent on "flirting at the edges" is as important as the time spent "getting married with the core". And you told me once in your great Reduce tool review that most of the current issues where "settings" and settings are on the edges... so which of your both statements should I listen first? And last but not least my friend My time is also very limited, in fact I don't hang around in forums as much as I wish, yet I don't sugarcoat words but still they don't sound harsh, is not a matter of sugarcoating, is a way of thinking, or how the brain works, if I don't constantly think like a sharp blade then my words will effortlessly come out without need to soft them. I do take you seriously as much as I take any 3dcoat user and artist that sincerely tries to help. Kind Regards
  11. Hi @3didiot: thanks for your detail comments and I would like to add few things too This was intentional, I deliberately break with a currently non-fixed tool the symmetry to show that even in that case the Symm copy command can restore back the symmetry, that's all. And regarding the Move tool with re-meshing I do not force to use it all the time, like most of the tools I develop they have the CHOICE to keep the old behavior or use the new behavior, I work in a non destructive way -ALWAYS. and re-sampling as a choice is indeed very good, the move tool is one of the most dangerous in creating stretching polygons and with resampling can be used to quickly shape big volumes, if you just want to adjust proportion, just toggle off re-sample. Because working on the groundwork you realize small improvements that can be made in a matter of days in existing tools that people can start using and not have to wait for the full revamp to be done. Also, in my case, where I join a HUGE pre-existent software, the best way to master it's development is to start from small, external features, toward it's core. Working in that "utility" have granted me an invaluable experience that can be translated in future symmetry core developments, as an artist you may have tool-priorities and I as a developer try to match them the best I can but me as developer have also a development priority that may not overlap yours. Cheers
  12. Hi Some new improvements you may like http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/10/15/liveclay-improvements/
  13. Hi guys New clean command and close holes command http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/10/12/close-holes-command/
  14. A very important bug was hunted, responsible for holes in LC and also I have created a twitter account for those who want to follow me https://twitter.com/Farsthary TSmooth allows more control degree over smoothing, you can adjust the smooth strength using the curve envelope of the tool (unlike normal smoothing), with zero pressure then it just perform a tangential smooth, geometry flows over the shape, get relaxed maintaining the visual apparence as much as possible and of course there's also the advantage of speed in subvoxel environments, Normal smooth is still very useful in cases where TSmooth fails, that is, pinned like vertex, with high subdivision surrounding that make it very slow to perform TSmooth.

  16. Hi more progress sneak-peak http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/09/30/2166/
  17. Hi more progress sneak-peak http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2011/09/30/2166/ @digman thanks for your suggestions yes, the bumpy look of many tools is an issue we will solve soon.
  18. Really cool!!!! thanks for sharing
  19. Thanks! and also thanks to you, very nice artwork! and thanks to everyone too, I'm working very hard to improve it and bring new possibilities to 3DC
  20. Oh yes, is very interesting from the topological point of view, you have to carefully plan how many holes you will need before starting to detail and refine your model, of course, that is in the unrealistic case you stick only with one tool/one software, booleans do good too and that is the current approach of nearly every CG app out there ... still, is addictive and very intuitive the new possibility to make bridges and holes the "natural way" as with real clay you almost can't stop till you have destroyed your model
  21. LOL , I'm not sure I can do that because I don't master (even know) all the tools and possibilities that 3DCoat has (and as you may know they are HUGE ) that took 10 minutes to you, but that can take hour for me? in any case I think that is based a lot on the symmetry trick to make holes, and the output has this symmetrical smell, still sculptris cannot make holes the "organic and real life sculpting" way, and even zbrush has to rely a lot on booleans (I'm not saying one method is better than others, each has its advantages ) anyway, today Is my resting day, and I woul like to enjoy a bit my escaping youth
  22. Hi Michais sorry...where's the option to make holes in Sculptris? I'm using alpha 6
  23. Ahh I see, I may be wrong but that dosn't seems very difficult to add
  24. Hi Yes, you absolutely will see it!, I just need to go by parts, it is not so essentially complex to add Volume LiveClay but I just need to let Surface part robust and stable, it will not help to spread my dev efforts into both projects but is a high priority task in my todo list, the foundation is set, subcells, the rest will come in time. I'm not releasing now LC to be a production ready tool because is unstable, all I ask is to use it for the shake of test the tool itself, the inter-operation with the rest of the system will be set later, the longest journey begging with a single step. Why you may think Volume LiveClay is forgotten? in no way!!! and it will trully unleash the power of 3DCoat combining the best o both worlds
  25. Thanks! yes, I know they do that because they want that 3DCoat reach the excellence and definitely is for the good and I appreciate that that's why I push myself harder too Oh yes, that may happen and I even have to add a translation layer to spanish
