  1. Nice Idea. A less fussy manipulator is much needed. Some kind of indication of the axis in used, would be a bonus.
  2. It'd be informal if we could see a real time video demo (youtube maybe).
  3. Thanks James, I better understand why people might use it now. I'll try your workflow out
  4. My point exactly. If the user had some manor of control in the future, it could be used for creating game and animation models etc. And not just stills. When people say they use it to create stills, your talking about quickly hacking a pose together from a lower model, right?
  5. People generally retopo becuase they want the topology to flow with the model's form, for purposes like animation, adding more details or optimizing for a games model. I assume the automatic quadrangulation will not flow with the models geometry, so I can't see under what circumstance it will be useful, Unless it was possible to set guides to how it Quadrulates. Or an I'm missing something?
  6. Nemoid what your describing sounds like what the reprojecting tools do in Zbrush. Reffiting current topology to a new form. There will not only be a need for user control and some stage but demand for creative control. Thats the fear I hold at making things too automatic.
  7. http://www.geometry.caltech.edu/pubs/ACDLD03.pdf Can't remember who posted this link, but it's really does look like the future of retopologising. Tho it needs a way for the user to be able to lay doen guide lines that the remeshing will conform toO! Then dear sir would be the beez kneez. I'm sure thats the future.
  8. Jeepers! I only just installed v45 not 10 minutes ago >.< 47 already
  9. Oh, I came here to say that within, 43beta DX 64bit If I press undo twice the object disappears forever. 32bit version crash while loading, and the 64bit GL version's text is garbled, the letters look like blocks. Voxels has come along way, the speed improvements are great. From here I'm sitting the only real improvements needed now are with the interface esp. the voxels. I think the voxel brushs work better than the sculpture brushes now. check out the flex tool for MODO http://www.luxology.com/whatismodo/model.aspx The realtime update when the falloff is changed, and the end, is ace.
  10. I don't think you guys understand and missed his point. There are somethings which are just not done. If bounders are not kept things get real ugly real quickly between competitors. Think about why you didn't see on the Softimage website crappy images of 3dsmax, And so on. Nobody does it for good reason. I think also it makes you deceptive to being sued. Being sued for misinterpretation, or something along those lines. Bottom line being it starts wars. Andrew, I think if you want to illustrate how 3dc does things better. U should re-inact other software's faults within 3dc and use that picture with the title "Other Software" pinned to it. It will still be obvious to all. And not step on anyone's toes. I really don't think he meant showing a pretty picture of the faults of Zbrush.
  11. Transpose I think people want two different things. 1. A non fussy way to pose/modify any part of an object quickly. 2. A system where the bones will stay in place ready for further manipulation. It would be cool if this transpose had some kind of system that worked like an Auto Ik system. Really once u set up ik on a limb, it works so well. Even some kind of ready-made limbs system, because I'm sure people will be making the same joints as everyone else again and again. I think it comes down to hiding the more advance rigging/transpose tools for those who don't desire them.... I find with real rigging in a full blown 3d editor, that it can get way to complex and fussy for what in reality is just simple joint.
  12. I really think the fall off in 3d coat could be a lot better. esp as it effects all the brushes. It seems never to give a completely smooth transition from the non effected area to the start of when a tool starts to take effect. It'd be great if we had the ability to edit a line graph pane that represented the fall off, then it'd be quickly make the modifications we seek. I like the way Silo does this with it's to bezier handles to edit the curve. Thanks for the hard work.
  13. If money was no object I'd use CS4 for texturing - & get a beefy machine. Zbrush for Scuplting 3dCoat for Retopologising I'm hoping CS4 will allow you to hide polygons to speed up navigation and painting. How much is Mudbox anyway?
  14. I got to use it and I was immediately impressed, to be within Photoshop with a 3d model, says it all - familiarity. But... Where it falls on its face it on performance. I've not put it through its paces, but I was reading the post of those who have, at polycount:- http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php...9904#post869904 Outside the cost 3dcoat actually holds its own, and even outshines leading brands in some features. So it becomes a no brainer when u add the addition of cost. The cost insures that pretty much every studio will add 3dcoat as an addition to its current tool set. I think as soon as we see the fluidity of the brushes in 3dcoat improve to what a professional would expect then I'm sure even studios will considered it a replacement for other software.
  15. ~I'd just like to add that, I wish that the drawing topo tool, would work over multiply meshes. Maybe add in some kind of thresh-hold slider to control what lines the topology will follow. Also that the split polytool would split across multiply edges. thanks
  16. By defualt it seems 3dcoat centres objects to the origin on import. I wish to disable this, so when I export my objects they will still be aligned in the same place in external software. Thank You.
  17. Autosave is a 3b file, even if it's where true that it was a different file, all files in the 3dcoat director get deleted.
  18. Ugg, I keep saving in the defualt user folder then uninstalling and it deletes everything I've done >.< hours down the drain. I keep doing this every version >.<, I know I should have learnt by now, but no bodies perfect. Anyway you can change the defualt folder or leave files 3dcoat didn't install?! Or better still anyway I can retreive that work? A whole day gone down the drain >.<
  19. What I gathering from the memory crashes it that 3dcoat only using physical memory and when it runs out it crashes. Changing the Virtual memory and made no difference, even when set to itis maximum of 4096 (in Winxp). Shouldn't virtual memory work just like physical memory, but just alot slower?
  20. 1) Within Retoplogise mode, Using the "Add/Split Polygones" tool I'd like to be able to split an open edges, without having to split other edges, within the polygon first. So I would be able to split an open edge and then add a poly in 1 operation. 2) An option to display Triangle count would be very helpfull in retopo mode. Thank you for your time.
  21. I agree with ghib I prefer it separate. I feel like I have to really contort my hand to press the stylus button while moving my hand to accuratley achieve the desired brush size.
  22. I'd like to be able to select an object and modify or delete it quickly. Possibly something like a Ctrl+shift LMClick over subobject will make it the active subobject?
  23. Brushes need to have a universal toolbar. No matter what mode your in (Normal,Sculpt Or Voxels) they are all located in the same place. Std Brush Smooth Flattern Move So on... They really need to be icon based and have universal parameters. I truly believe that all non artistic/brush operations should be text based. Which will give an intimidated understanding of every tool, Instead of the wealth of icons on the left I believe it'd be more intuitive to have the tool text based. Which will make it immediately obvious what each tool does. Silo 3D does this, and has a fantastic interface.
