Advanced Member blade33ru Posted June 22, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) im doing autopo on some mechanical parts which gives me reasonably acceptable results. but some parts would be nice to rebuild manually but my autopo has quite high resolution and the prospect of rebuilding the bad parts is daunting. is there a function for manual retopo where i can select an edge loop and extrude all the edges simultaneously along a surface. this is possible with maya modelling toolkit and is a real life saver, but im trying to move all my modelling out of maya. i dont think this is possible in 3d coat, so i offer it as a suggestion Edited June 22, 2015 by blade33ru
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted June 22, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted June 22, 2015 At the moment (Andrew is reworking Autopo), select the edge and drag it over the bare part and use "Split Rings" to subdivide behind the leading edge.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted June 25, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted June 25, 2015 With Slide Edges, you can hold the CTRL key or choose Edge Loops in the toolbar, to slide entire loops
Advanced Member blade33ru Posted July 2, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 2, 2015 hey just in case u missed it i just noticed today if you use the select tool in edge mode it opens up a bunch of other options including extrude edge, bevel edge split edge and others which are pure gold of course for this thread, extrude edge was a total surprise and amazing
