New Member jakegumbleton Posted September 15, 2015 New Member Report Share Posted September 15, 2015 Hi there, I Just jumped in to 3d coat and am very impressed so far! very intuitive software. I am facing an issue when using 2d paint: the videos show that right clicking anywhere in world space should re align the drawing plane to the current camera view angle. Mine no longer does this. instead it does nothing if I right click' off object' and conforms the plane to the normal of the surface if i right click 'on object'. Does anyone know how i get it back to the behaviour where i can right click on space to align to the drawing plane to the camera? FYI i have tried all the options in the tool options and none of it fixes this issue for me so I assume its some global setting located elsewhere in the software. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By way of an introduction I am a concept artist and you can see my work here: www.jakegumbleton.com if you are interested. PolyHertz
Wait, are you talking about direct projection paint in the viewport? That has never been possible afaik. Bodypaint and Mari can do that, but 3DC requires you to use projection with an External editor like Photoshop. Amazing concept work btw. Contributor Malo Posted October 2, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted October 2, 2015 As far as i know, this is possible as long as i use 3d coat. That was one of the reasons for me to buy it. I have started with 3.7 Take a look at this. Projection painting in the viewport.
PolyHertz
Stencils/stamps are sort of their own thing. This is what I meant: 3D Paint = Cursor follows surface normal and immediately lays paint on to model while its being drawn on screen. Projection Paint = Brush is aligned to screen space, completely ignoring the models normals, and resolution is dependent on screen itself until paint is projected/baked onto the texture.
