New Member Daria Posted January 28, 2016 New Member Report Share Posted January 28, 2016 Hi all I was wondering if it's possible to bake/save the texture/look of my mesh, as I've painted it using the Smart Materials? I know that typically these are interactive with the environment around the mesh, but the game engine I'm uploading to doesn't have that ability, so I'm trying to 'fake' the shininess/look of the metal into a texture to upload and put on the mesh. Is there any way to do this?
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted January 28, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted January 28, 2016 Yes , export the textures using the spec / gloss workflow if your game engine doesnt support pbr. End result will be the same.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted January 28, 2016 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) Another possible workflow. You can export the model to Blender, Blender Cycles render engine. Setup your lights as so desired. You can setup very diffuse lighting if needed. Use a Blender PBR shader to render the 3DC pbr smart materials. Bake the textures which will bake the pbr materials and the light... Here is a video to get you started if you are interested in this workflow. There are a bunch of YouTube videos on texture baking for blender.
